I’ve been making my way through the Welfare Reform Bill and this paragraph on the gov.uk website is genuinely disgusting. Receiving a decent disability benefits rate “encourages sickness”, does it? Funny, I thought it just enabled severely ill and disabled people to eat.

Journalists can’t help anthropomorphising a statistical model, even when they’re writing negative stories about it. Every story that doesn’t replace “Chat GPT advised the user to” with “ChatGPT generated a statistically likely stream of words, and those words were” is working to promote them
