If that functionality is accurate you could use it to fine tune its orientation during installation.

The reason NPDC had a vote on this issue is that they have an environmental conscience unlike TTR's Allan Eggars, or councillor "petrol forever" Murray Chong.

It's Simon Watts trying to take credit for changes in electricity regulation changes are already coming from the updated AS/NZS 4777.1:2024. He's stolen someone else's homework.

Also observing China's sheer size, level of development and economic activity is a real eye-opener in appreciating how small and insignificant NZ actually is by comparison.

Similar for our Polestar2. Just coming up 3 years old and two screws picked up so far. Last one (actually a panel bolt by the looks) coincided with replacement of front tyres so easily sorted. Our previous Commodore SW went ~20 years with no punctures.

Post 2013 Leafs can do V2G because Japan mandated that function in EVs manufactured there following Fukushima to foster grid resilience. Like so much about the Leaf it was truly ahead of its time.

No lawn growth means not only retiring the lawnmower for the winter but also sluggish pasture growth so the start of silage feeding out. At least you can pick your lawnmowing times to suit the weather unlike feeding out in the pissing rain.

GCM or GVM the effect on road wear for loadings <3.5T is minimal, and the portion of RUCs that relates to vehicle weight is small, so any minor adjustments to RUCs in this regard is hair splitting and not worth the admin, effort and cost involved in differential charging. Vehicle footprint maybe?
comment in response to
post
Roading wear is minimal for all <3.5T. The cost of separate tax collection for various vehicles under that weight is counterproductive to revenue collected.
comment in response to

Dropping fuel tax (FET) totally & blanket RUCs would be a windfall for high consumption vehicles. It should be accompanied by a rollout of ETS/carbon tax on fossil fuels.

Maybe an EV with the same interior fitout level but at a lower price point suits some buyers evdb.nz/evs
comment in response to
post
Same market sector who buy MBs, BWWs or Audis, which are all at this price point or above. Interior is down to taste. I wouldn't consider a spartan cabin with a single computer screen as pleasing to drive. 95%+ of our charging is at home (from solar) so DC charging speed is a minor consideration.

$100K is on par with other prestige level EVs, and I don't regard Tesla M3 as prestige so not in the same league as the Polestar2.

Don't leave your cars where the cattle can get to them. Inquisitive animals that will leave copious saliva on the vehicles and probably strength test the panelwork with their heads.

Furthermore the low FITs paid by many electricity providers incentivises self consumption thereby minimising domestic generation's contribution to grid supply.
comment in response to
post
The amount of stated residential generation would be an estimate at best. A lot of domestic generation is 'behind the meter' so not visable so not quantifiable. Our last 3 months have had ~50% self consumption with up to 85% self consumption monthly in mid winter, and we have no battery storage.

If only New Zealand's government would pull their heads out of their arses and realise that increased solar and wind here could do the same thing. We have massive battery/storage potential in our hydro lakes but Sybian Brown sees burning imported LNG as our generating's future - for fuck's sake!

Any dog running loose in a rural area is a 'pest'. We live rurally and any dog found on our property is asking for a bullet. We have sheep, poultry and beef cattle so nil tolerance for them being upset or harmed by dogs. Council would receive any collars and/or tags to follow up on. Dog to the eels.

Both of those fields are tiddlers in comparison to Kapuni and Maui and with the decline of those mainstays of NZ's natural gas supplies we're going to have to 'pull a rabbit out of a hat' if we plan on hydrocarbons for energy. Solar and wind make far more sense in today's energy landscape.

Legacy markets really do struggle with the rate of uptake of disruptive technologies. Uptake of superior products tends to increase exponentially as word gets around from impressed early adopters. @tonyseba.bsky.social has been predicting this for years now.

But if you're drawing 11kW from a PW3 it's going to be completely discharged in a little over an hour? PW3 has 13.5 kWh usable battery capacity which is a 1/5 or less of most EVs so with V2G you not only get far more reserve but you can also fetch some extra from the nearest public charger.
