2: progress would be nice don't ya think? Even if you aren't a great partner right now, you have the power to change that. I know I didn't always love my husband how he deserved and he didn't show up in the ways that I needed. Thankfully, we keep working on ourselves together. That's real romance.

More than 100 years....how much progress has been made? It doesn't have to be that way. Maybe we could all stop wearing "this is just who I am" as a badge of honor and start reparenting ourselves and healing and being better partners with each passing year. Not to excuse being a shitty partner, but

Wow. That totally tracks. I always reduced it to misery loves company, but maybe it is the cognitive dissonance of reconciling their own abuse. Either way, it's very sad. It's not easy to be a cycle-breaker, but someone has to!

Got one myself. Can't believe I delivered another child with that doctor. I didn't realize at all how problematic it was really. It didn't sit well with either of us though...

This is fantastic! My husband and I consider ourselves the leadership team of the household. This comes along with strategic meetings when needed. When I take the lead too hard, he feels left out and unheard too. We aim for balance as much as possible, but that looks different every day.

Shocking how early on this happened. We should have used this as a sign that rural men were getting even more intolerable than they had been for so long.

I humbly believe it is at the core of all of our failing relationships. Colonization breed white supremacy and patriarchy and they love to divide and conquer. Even though men are treated preferentially, their relationships suffer because they aren't held accountable to grow up and be good to others.

It's funny that you say that. I feel smart, and people tell me that I am, but the number of times the thing that I had to say came from seemingly nowhere leads me to believe that not all of the thoughts are my own. The most genius of them I tend to not take credit for. Not sure if that right of not.
