I finished @vukusiciva.bsky.social new book documenting the systems of organization, plausible deniability and patterns of violence perpetrated by Serbian Paramilitaries in the 1990s. This is a chilling but extremely important and relevant read in 2025, beyond just the dissolution of Yugoslavia.

Amadou N'Diaye from Saint-Louis in Senegal at 40 years of age in 1936. He was injured in a shell explosion at Monastir in Bosnia on June 2nd 1917. His right foot was amputated. He was one of 1000s of West and North African soldiers who fought in the Balkans.

I honestly don’t think of it as guilt. Many Germans had a comfortable post-Holocaust in discourse around which they centered themselves. They made the Holocaust about them, not about Jews. Now that Jews are calling them out they cannot handle it.
