There are quite a number of no doubt highly commendable commentaries available, but if you want a slightly more popular and digestible take, I found Stephen Greenblatt's 'The Swerve: how the world became modern' very accessible.

My only live gig was Wembley in the 90s. Could have seen them at Leeds Uni in the 70s but didn't feel like queuing for both the Stones and Led Zeppelin. Also was short of money

I think it would be fair to say that subsequent albums have had some good tracks but there hasn't really been a thoroughly solid end2end album since then
