It could be just as simple as Sasuke asking Sakura to go on a journey with him.
It would take her by surprise and she would ask if she should get Naruto as well.
But it ends up just being the two of them.

Part of me also thinks that she worries that he may decide to leave again, which causes her some stress but it's something that she doesn't express right away.

Meanwhile Sakura, she's constantly expressed how she felt about him, but I think over time she just- slowly gave up on him every returning said feelings.
Like she still genuinely cares about him and stuff but she's definitely toned it down and isn't as expressive with it.

That makes sense for sure.
Them on a journey together, it might be a little awkward at first but as they continue on they begin to notice those little things about each other.
