Pancreatic cancer is so hard to catch early so that it is treatable. Yay!!!

I am five months post active treatment for breast cancer. This is your reminder early screening saves lives! Get your cancer checks if you can. You do not want to join this club!

Those moments with students where the lightbulb turns on after they’ve struggled with a concept. The best feeling in the world is when they realize they are capable of putting the pieces together themselves.

The blackout is scheduled as a way for Americans to boycott major retailers that have pulled back on DEI policies.

Listen I know shit sucks but PLEASE find the things that make you happy and keep doing them. It is not frivolous. It is how you survive.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

10inches of snow due by tomorrow afternoon!! ⛄️

This is heartbreaking as a cancer survivor.

If your argument is "sure, a terrible modern event has a parallel in the 1920s and 30s but don't worry we turned out just fine", might I suggest reading about the 1940s.

Did this myself this morning.

lol!!! You are truly a master if you can drop a new record after you’ve been dead 233 years.

It’s Tuesday… which means it’s #kidlitchat day here on Bluesky (at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific). Come spend an hour with your #kidlit community. Limber up your fingers. Bring dessert (leftovers always okay!). Or lurk, if you want. The real point is that I hope you join us!

The Rhapsody in Blue was written in just weeks, and premiered #OTD with #Gershwin at the #piano. As a joke, the clarinetist played the opening with a huge glissando, really 'stretching' the notes out. But Gershwin liked it. He decided to keep it. #wednesday #goodvibes #jazz

Former children’s librarian and now education librarian here… yeah, this is a no. Nothing about designating books like this will help our nation’s literacy scores.

This is bad pedagogy and worse librarianship

Far-right populists much more likely than the left to spread fake news – study

While things feel horrific right now (because they are), remember to laugh. There is still humor. It is part of how we will survive this.

Great point.

So thankful for British comedy… how I am keeping my sanity right now.

In its simplest terms, the apparent demise of #USAID is the result of the world's richest man ending a program that helps millions of poor people. You don't need a Ph.D. in moral theology to see why this is an evil. You can just read Jesus's parables on the rich and the poor.

Yes!!! Hangry is a thing!

Could you do something about it, please???

Hey, there. It's #kidlitchat night here on Bluesky. We #Kidlit folk will gather at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific and spend an hour chatting. (Hence the name!) I hope you can join us this week (or any Tuesday at the same time. Or all the Tuesdays). And I look forward to chatting with you soon!

BREAKING: Major publishers, alongside the Authors Guide, bestselling authors, and others, have filed a lawsuit against Idaho's draconian book ban bill, claiming First and Fourteenth Amendment violations. bookriot.com/idaho-hb710-...

I have had this happen so many times, lol.

Absolutely NOT the solution. Do not waste the time and energy of librarians buying copies of the book. You advocate for better budgets for the library. People need digital materials and they deserve them. This is not the solution. You've misread the problem here.

Friends on PSLF - now that Musk has accessed the DoE computers, we are being encouraged to get print outs and screen shots of your loan info!!

Trying to write my Senator. It makes you pick a topic. I need an all of the above option because Trump is impacting the entire list they have!

I haven’t listened to Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice for years! Amazed at how many melodies from it I remember!

Saying it louder: Utah has banned TWO MORE BOOKS from public schools *in the entire state*. These are YA books that were available only to high schoolers. TWO schools in the state are responsible for over 80% of the state-mandated book bans. So much for "local control."

It’s foggy and rainy where I am working… this, however, looks gorgeous!!

I was just thinking I need to go search for cat pictures because… whew!

True statement

Good grief it’s cold! The bright sun is deceptive!! 🥶🥶🥶

If a Democrat fired 100 FAA employees and put a freeze on hiring air traffic controllers 8 days before an airport plane crash, there would be a right-wing and media frenzy for weeks.

No survivors… those poor families. 💔
