She's always a good read, I think.

I think I shall experience it very differently to the way I did back then. Du Maurier is always so compelling, writing superb escapism and atmospheric historical novels, but she had a beautiful dark heart, and understood human frailties and desires. This should provide me with a great escape. 💙📚

It's definitely not cheap.
Don't know how often you need new prescriptions but have you looked into the prepaid certificate. I think I pay about £12 a month. It saves me a fortune.

That 'if' typo is bothering me more than is reasonable.

Yes, it's a lovely calming view. Lots of birds and squirrels here too, which I love to watch.

I read Open the Door a few years ago in the old green Virago edition but had never come across a copy of this one. I'm so glad it was reissued.

Not that bad. It's an unflinching look at how these terrible situations can arise.

Absolutely, and the actors played that so well, especially in episode 4.

I'm hoping to watch Adolescence over the weekend. Stephen Graham is always excellent.

I enjoyed The Mandlebaum Gate. It's definitely not talked about as much. My favourite Spark though is The Girls of Slender Means.

Thank you, so many lovely book people here. Far too many to mention. I always miss someone. Check my starter pack though. 😊

Well done, I finally acquired all these (a few second hand) but still have one left to read.

I did, very much, and it was largely due to @lyzzybee.bsky.social that I read it. She was so enthusiastic when she popped over to talk books and things recently that I had to get it. 😁
