Just sent a message to AG Raoul asking him to submit an amicus brief supporting #Section504. It was easy, and other IL residents can do it here: illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/contact/emai... Live elsewhere? Look up your AG and send a note -especially if your AG is trying to take 504 down!

I woke up this morning feeling strangely optimistic. Maybe it's the fresh snow painting the world outside my window or something else, but I feel ready to face the world with a new mindset. Yeah, things are shitty, but I don't need to respond with fear - there are other, perhaps stronger, ways.

Mr Rogers always said, to find hope in despair, look for the helpers. But I think it's important to do more than just look for them. Ask them how you can help. Learn from them. Support them. Become one. Going to be a lot of grassroots community building. Look to them for the blueprints of help.

An economist I met today made the DEI case so beautifully: "There is a substantial body of research showing that better decisions are made when there are people in the room who can approach it from different viewpoints. DEI is a tool to help increase viewpoints in the room so we can all thrive."

This post has not aged well at all.

The DEI caused the plane crash narrative is a distraction. The tariffs are a distraction. Whatever insane nonsense Trump spews that the media will chase like cats chasing a laser light is a distraction. The only story that counts right now is the wholesale hijacking of control of the US government.

In a world where the government is waging a war on accessibility adding alt text to your images is punk as fuck

Lee Atwater had a pungent and famous quote about how once conservatives could no longer use the n-word they used things like “states’ rights” to invoke the same spirit. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration any more — if it ever was — to say they use DEI as the n-word.

A friend in a building with asylum families says ICE showed up today. She'd coached her neighbors and posted signs so they knew their rights & what to do. The building engineer's wife saw ICE lacked a judicial warrant, gave 'em Hell, & sent them away. Together we can do this, folks! #Chicago #Resist

Steve and I had a great time making onigiri for our first time. I'd been intimidated by it, but it was actually not hard, just time consuming. #foodsky

Something you might not know: While my current oncologist has a direct line to NIH, when I was first diagnosed, my then oncologist relied on public NIH communications to learn about the latest treatments & plead the case to insurance. Even a few weeks' delay can be calamity for cancer patients.

Well, looks like they're bringing back the Friday night horrors this time around. Can't say that I missed them. (Btw, this is the stuff we need to save that outrage for) www.dol.gov/newsroom/rel...

I don't give a f__ about the Nazi salute or declassifying 60 year old assassination cases, and I can't help but suspect they're the sideshow to distract us from the prospect of ICE in sensitive locales, silencing scientists studying infectious diseases and cancer, unpopular tariffs, and so much more

With ICE raids already starting, remember this when you get asked if you've seen anyone they're looking for, NO I don't remember I haven't seen anyone I don't know Fuck off Ok, maybe not the last one, but erase your memory Be an ally

Raspberry cheesecake sourdough. The house smells soooo good right now, and breakfast time cannot come soon enough! #foodsky

(1/8) Hey Chicago peeps, NYT reports the Trump admin is sending ICE agents to Chicago next week to start conducting raids. Here's a thread with info and resources in case you are concerned for your safety or that of a loved one or neighbor:
