"Young and pleasant and wanted to be there"
... It's sex trafficking. That is the opposite of wanting to be there

One Piece novel HEROINES (Vol. 1)
Fun little read. It's always a pleasure to get to spend more time with these characters, though the writing was a little weird at times (do they really have to talk about how beautiful the women are at every possible moment?)

I liked all of them except for the first one (a story about Nami buying heels? Really?) but my favorite was probably either the Robin one or the second Nami one.

"And Death His Legacy" by George R.R. Martin
Easily the most interesting story yet. Extremely political, and very relevant even now. I'm not entirely certain what to take away with it but it was a fascinating read nonetheless.

"The Fortress" by George R.R. Martin
His first foray into historical fiction, a genre we know he loves very much. History has never been my best subject so much of it went over my head but I found it fascinating nonetheless. It's crazy how much of his later writing style could already be seen here.

"Only Kids Are Afraid of the Dark" by George R.R. Martin
Finally diving into Dreamsongs, GRRM's autobiography/short story collection hybrid. This one was a superhero story he wrote for a comics fanzine in his high school days.

As for the story itself, despite being a superhero story it still had a lot of the creepy horror-ish elements associated with much of his later work. It was even referenced as part of ASOIAF ("Saagael" is the name of one of the Gods of Lys in Fire & Blood, and also features in this story)

Was very fascinating hearing what George had to say about comics fandom in the 60s, even giving the context about his famous Fantastic Four mail-in comment. Makes me want to read more comics...

Thunderbolt Fantasy: The Final Chapter
The conclusion to one of my favorite series of the last decade. While it's unfortunate that it didn't get to run for 5 seasons like originally planned, and it definitely shows at times both here and in Season 4, I still feel blessed we got as much as we did.

In the end, it's probably still my favorite Urobuchi work. For any unfamiliar I highly recommend checking it out. It's an incredible work of art like few other things out there.
Now I pray for more PILI stuff to get translated to fill the puppet-shaped hole in my puppet-shaped heart.

There were parts that felt underwhelming to be sure. It's hard to have a movie finale with 3 separate big bads each with a fair amount of build-up and have them each feel satisfying. But it still hit a lot of the right spots for me.
