Wayland is what I use and love, xorg is basically from the stone ages with how old and hard it is to work for, I'm happy with Wayland, it hadn't let me down yet 👌

That's sick! I remember watching your content right before I switched to Linux, it was really amazing for me and gave me the Courage to fully switch from windows! Thank you, and I can't wait to see what you have in store!

Haha yeah, I update every week because of that, I have not had any issues (yet) with updating, I will switch to Debian 13 when it comes out so I won't deal with the crap that rolling release distros could cause, I just want to use my pc goddamn it!

That's very sweet and cool, And very interesting to me on a philosophical level, it almost reminds me of my own memories as a teen and or child, Its very sentimental

I am in the boat of let's not take each other too seriously, I think at least 99% of people are good and have good in them, I try not to be a doomer, no one likes a doomer

I have never played tf2, The only thing I know about it, is it becoming source available (or open source, I genuinely forgot lol) Also the ps3 and Xbox ports, The only valve game I have played is Actually csgo (for the ps3 btw)

You could try the flatpak version, I don't think there's an official package for it tho

Emulators is the best way for me to play games, Most games I want to play work with little to no issues, some emulators even have online support, How cool is that?

I really need to get myself some socks to fully transform into the arch user (at leaet until Debian 13 comes out🙂)

I hope it works out, I would suggest Linux mint or even fedora as a good distros any beginner (or anyone for that matter)

Ah, oh, I didn't know 20 was out, I thought you were talking about 19, Yeah, something that new, It will probably be fixed

Although, it still is at least nice that they offer a free version, so I will give them credit on that, And, I bet a lot of people don't really care and are happy to convert their media to whatever format is supported on DaVinci Resolve, just for me, its not the best
comment in response to
post
Ah yeah, I did hear about the free version, it sounds like a bit of a nightmare to me, having to convert you media to a different format to even use it, I can barely use handbrake, You think I have the time and patience to go through all that trouble? lol
comment in response to
post
Darn, that kinda blows, Sounds very annoying

I am learning it right now, its pretty good for my use case, I have been wanting to learn content creation, but stuff like DaVinci Resolve is I think 300 dollars, and, it may have a native Linux version, but I have heard its a bitch and a half to install

I love kdenlive, I was kinda making fun of the fact that many don't like it because Its not as good as something like Da Vinci Resolve (witch it isn't as good as it, but come on, give it some slack, its an open source video editor)

Jokes on you I use kdenlive! 🙂

You could try Debian, Debian is a very old distro and pretty reliable, as long as you get past the out of date packages, Debian also I believe has a lot of packages, I am personally gonna switch from arch fo Debian 13 when it comes out

Yeah, It really is, I have wanted to format an external drive that's 4tbs, I gave up because its like halfway full and it would take absolutely forever
comment in response to
post
Because the core of windows, is very old, and that can (and I believe has) caused problems for stuff like security.
comment in response to
post
I think if they really wanted to make windows better, they would drop or even just offer 2 different versions of windows, one marketed for use of older software, while the other being the newer cutting edge version
comment in response to
post
The one thing that stops windows from being perfect is probably the backwards compatibility, Windows is around 40 years old, Windows for me feels bloated and just bad because of that, You look in the settings and you see menus that look like they were from windows 7

Flatpaks are my favorite packaging formats ever, i love the idea of having permissions like what android and iOS does

I do that with all of my drives as well, now that I'm a fulltime Linux user, I don't really need NTFS anymore
