Goodness. Is there a story behind you coming to this knowledge?

I'm sure the mailed notices and emails will include the phrase "our new convenient location" because of course.

Yes! And I keep wondering who came up with that description. Are friends and family describing him that way, has he claimed to be a devout Christian, or has the media decided that's what he is?

This whole article is full of contradictions. Everything seemed fine to one person but to others he had become withdrawn & secretive. No warning signs but he loved guns and InfoWars. No significant loss or desire to belong to something bigger? His own life belies that.

Or it was possibly never about the masks....

I'd put Yeti coolers in that category.

I prefer writing lengthy screeds in reply to no reply auto-generated emails I did not ask for and no one will ever read.

By the end of the week she was using again said “I gotta find it, gotta find that place –“ On the tenth day he left took the kids this time said “I can’t listen to – I can’t do this no more –” 2/2 #busride

Where you been, God? Obviously not paying attention to elected officials getting murdered in this country over the last couple hundred years.

OMG I must have him. I lost my last big boy 6 months ago and have been hankering after another for the past few weeks. Application submitted. Now I wait... Thank you for sharing - I hadn't run across this group before.

I do wish the website was secure. Application submitted anyway.

Oh, F**K this guy. I mean that every day, but today? As a Minnesotan, as someone who's taking this personally, F**K him all the way to hell and back again. Hell can keep him.

You know what? Violence like this has always had a place in a democracy. Because it has a place in the human heart, everywhere. Hortman is now dead. Don't you dare say this is "unacceptable." I can't deal with platitudes right now.

Yes and... Knowing what is happening in the moment or getting frustrated at who is or isn't covering it doesn't change the fact that I still need to just live my life. This morning that means driving my mom to the grocery store and stopping to pick up her medications.

Probably doesn't help that we talk/teach about it as THE Holocaust. As if it's the one and only.

Literally parading.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom - sending love through the universe to you and your family.

People keep focusing on the wrong two teams.

The Jacket That Thinks For You?! I try hard not to use the overused word "dystopian" but feels appropriate here. I have so many thoughts about this and the sweatpants I'm wearing aren't helping with any of them.

Why are the stacks so neat? I don't trust it.

Oh, absolutely not. Just checking.

😱 Please tell me you're not taking The Onion as truth. I know they don't have much to work with now since life truly is stranger than fiction. But seriously, give a girl a hint that you know this is bs. Funny, but bs.

If "scrambling to fix" = good governance I really, really think we deserve better governance.

If that doesn't just scream insane asylum, I don't know what does.

Her stats also presume immigrants aren't white men and vice versa. Pretty problematic either way. (Yes, I get the point but this is a shit way to make it).

Thanks for trying to counter this. It doesn't even sound like you, or Liz Cheney. Catastrophizing helps no one. What's real is enough to deal with.

I am so sorry he's gone and hugs to you for what you're feeling. Grand life lessons and meanings are all well and good but don't help much in the moment.

"You'll be sorry!" screams the impotent man shaking his fist at the universe.

I've resisted reading this until now. A lazy rhetorical mess from someone who used to teach "the art of persuasive discourse." Two things stood out: 1) I don't think she knows what racism is; 2) Use of a hypothetical scenario to support a point means you don't know how to effectively argue a point.

Sandos are the worst. I'm grudgingly accepting of handhelds because what variety! Do I want a sandwich, a burger, a taco, an egg roll maybe? Who knows!

as one does when one is of a certain age

Don't have children but planning any family thing is ridiculously fun. Sometimes frustrating in a "bang my head against my desk" kind of way. But overall, fun! Like every creative endeavor.

This is such an excellent piece start to finish. Will have to put his book Trauma Sponges on my reading list.

Oh no, I don't think you did. Should have made it clear I was interpreting other comments showing general distrust and dismissal of the StoryCorps mission mainly because of the city messaging. At least that's my takeaway. People have valid concerns, absolutely. I Could have worded it better!
comment in response to post
It's clear the city has an agenda here. But what does that have to do with StoryCorps? Don't hate on them. Been around 20+ years to document oral histories saved in the Library of Congress. Show up and talk about whatever you want, if you're so inclined.

That settles it. This is the year I finally buy a bike and start enjoying the fabulous bike infrastructure of Minneapolis. Just to spite Carol Becker.

I think that's called Match.

Oh for sure. Scandi countries are appealing for so many reasons, but are not without their struggles re: migrating peoples. If you do this, I wish you all the best!

I followed a woman who wrote a blog for almost 10 years about living with dementia. I cried when she died, her last post posthumously published by her daughters. My brain tried to tell me this dumb and wierd but I grieved for many months.

I suspect there's plenty of xenophobic sentiment but if you're white and can easily assimilate you're probably fine.
