I always thought that the people willing to serve in our country’s military to get citizenship were rather admirable.

The lessons repeat themselves over and over again. When you persecute a minority, it makes them more aware of their identity and differences from the majority, slowing assimilation. In other words, the Trump agenda is bad for the very thing Trumpists claim to want.
