MAGA acts like finding fraud in government is some new thing DOGE invented. They aren’t good at it, but experts who were let go were.

Badenoch going on a judicial ruling made because legislation her government passed was flawed. She goes from strength to strength, you know. #pmqs

“I would have thought the leader of the opposition might support day one protection employment rights given where she’s going” Keir Starmer #PMQs

There's a coverage void for someone to do a prolonged period of 'I love you guys, really I do' to then produce a great magazine piece on what the hell is going on inside the Badenoch set-up at the moment.

"This is getting tedious", Starmer says about this PMQs. Finally, someone telling it how it is.

Bad Enoch. The gift that keeps on giving to Keir Starmer every Wednesday. #PMQs.

No matter where you fall on the TikTok ban, the President undoing by “executive order” a law passed by Congress and upheld unanimously by the Supreme Court is an unconstitutional abuse of power.

Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine on “Day One”. Everybody knew it was a lie for his gullible supporters and now his team has confirmed it - any end to the war is “months away”. Trump “misunderstood the complexity of the conflict” his allies babbled to Reuters.

A simple warning about Musk from people at Tesla. “Wear the right clothes, do not make suggestions and be sure to gauge his mood before you meet him…. Do not to wear any patterned clothing, suede shoes or fragrance. Such attire, they said, could send Musk into a rage.” apple.news/A52ofrnY2QmW...

In 1997 — 1997!! — South Yorkshire police were in the news for forcing a Black suspect to stand in an identity parade with eight white men that they had *blacked up*

This is really good. Pointing out that Starmer at no point & in no way equated calls for an Inquiry with being ‘far right’ was a very lonely business last week. Here are *all* the receipts.

TechCrunch going in hard!

"Pause for a moment to note how the same Brexiters who once insisted EU refrigeration standards for exported kippers, which turned out not to exist, were an intolerable violation of British sovereignty are now untroubled by a foreign oligarch openly engaged in overturning a British election"

Brian Bell of the MAC wants asylum seekers to be able to work in 6 months. Labour dropped this policy in opposition. It wants to focus on processing claims within 6 months. (Claims were taking an average of 22 months in the last parliament) www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

An ex-Tory minister has said he is "extremely disappointed" by how his party has approached the child grooming gang issue Former Conservative MP Steve Baker also suggested that shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick was "leaving the door open" to "racism" when he posted about "alien cultures"

NEW A close look at Truss's legal threat to Starmer The former Prime Minister has sent a glorious but seemingly hopeless cease-and-desist letter By me Substack: emptycity.substack.com/p/a-close-lo... Personal blog: davidallengreen.com/2025/01/a-cl...

Former adviser to George Osborne tells me that the “best advice at all times” to Liz Truss is to “keep quiet”… #LizTruss

The Sun's political editor Harry Cole on BBC Politics Live bringing his expertise to bear on the subject of grooming gangs

This is Howard. He couldn't decide where to sit. Wound up in two places at once and may require some assistance. 13/10

Being driven insane by your own algorithm is very modernised Shakespeare.

Really, what is there to say?

Several tech watchdog groups condemned Meta’s decision to effectively end its fact-checking program, warning of the potential for a surge in disinformation that could lead to more conspiracy theories.

Is there even any global ketamine supply left after Musk & Tate have taken their shares?

Jess Philips speaks to me about Musk, the abuse she's faced and danger she was put in. We discuss grooming gangs, her work on sexual exploitation & calls for a national inquiry. TV i/v here. We have an exclusive hour long convo on Electoral Dysfunction pod, out Thurs youtube.com/watch?v=8zUuD1…

This, from Badenoch, is absolutely the idiom of crackpot conspiracy theory. It's all going a bit Pizzagate down at CCHQ.

At this point, if the Labour govt doesn't make every effort to regulate donations to political parties, & also to get as many people off Twitter as possible, they are shooting themselves in the foot for the next general election. Musk clearly intends to meddle in UK politics, and not in their favour

Prince Harry and Tom Watson’s case against The Sun newspaper’s publisher finally makes it to trial over allegations of illegality, corruption, and cover-up Help crowdfund our full and fair reporting You know other news organisations won’t do it ▶️ subscribe.bylinetimes.com/the-people-v...

The BBC needs to have a debate about whether Musk's outbursts should keep leading the news. This isn't about censoring or suppressing his views; it's about whether to amplify them. Most Brits aren't on X, they don't follow Musk & not every raving from a foreign plutocrat should set the news agenda

I have a theory that the seeds of brexit lie in the backlash to the 2012 Olympics Opening ceremony. So there is a kind of poetry to this. Think @jonathancoe.bsky.social has a version of this hypothesis.

This letter in today’s Guardian, signed by some of the UK’s finest journalists, warns that The Observer, bought by Tortoise Media, could be stripped of much of its excellent foreign reporting. www.theguardian.com/media/2024/d...

Zelenskyy is open to Macron’s proposal to send allied troops to provide security for end to war in Ukraine. France and Baltics likely to provide the troops, Germany and Poland have said they won’t. US and UK unlikely to commit. In exchange Ukraine would need to be allowed in the EU and NATO.

There's a tendency in centre-left politics atm to counterpose "deliverism" and narrative-based politics. But one without the other is a route to failure, not least with Reform UK breathing down Labour's neck. Here's a possible way out, centred on council Housing www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Glad to see Richard Tice taking such care over UK fishing. It is just a shame that neither he nor any of his Reform colleagues could be bothered to show up this afternoon to my debate... on UK fishing.

Farage walks out of Sky interview because, apparently, having 1m TikTok followers means not having to answer as party leader, about your MP's failure to disclose being jailed for violent assault. But we should definitely trust Nige's vetting going forward. Unless he gets 2m TikTok followers. ~AA

flashback to the year 2019: More than 10,000 people in the constituency of Saffron Walden have signed a petition to revoke Article 50 and remain the EU...but MP Kemi Badenoch says “we run the country based on elections and not petitions”. www.saffronwaldenreporter.co.uk/news/2188696...
