Daughter and I have been watching SUSPIRIA (1977) and I have the absolute screaming meemies about the interior decor.

Daughter and I are off to Stockholm in a few weeks' time so I have temporarily stopped learning Italian and am now learning Swedish.

Anyway, this morning I sent the revised MS of my new novel to the agent, so I have accomplished *something* today, even if I lie on the sofa like a pig in straw all afternoon.

This evening it will just be me, daughter, the dog and the cat so I asked daughter what she'd like for dinner and she said "chicken pie". So that's what we're having. We may treat ourselves to a horror film too.

You're very welcome to this 'Two studies of a cat and a sow' Cornelis Saftleven 1623-1681 (British Museum)

Ben Okri: ‘Is A Tale of Two Cities the greatest English novel? Meet me in a pub to discuss’

Cleared up the kitchen and discovered that OH had left some tiny bits of cheese on the board. He used to give those to Ginger, our late lamented cat, who died in November.

Making myself a sneaky cooked breakfast before the dog gets up, otherwise she will demand a tithe.

Just a reminder that the latest issue of NIGHTMARE ABBEY (7) features a story I wrote about zombies and a lighthouse. (🎶 These are a few of my favourite things. 🎶) You can get it via Waterstones if you prefer not to support you-know-who. www.waterstones.com/book/nightma...

Just googled one of my stories out of sheer idle curiosity, and Google's AI has completely misunderstood it. 🙄

Just did that thing where I was sitting around idly scrolling and suddenly realised I had started running a bath and then forgot about it. Flailed my way upstairs to find the water 1cm from the top. 😱

Seem to be having peak Scottish this week. Son is stuck on the Isle of Lewis, daughter is driving 28 miles across wild country in filthy weather, OH is off to a talk about the Highland Trail 550 and I am editing a novel set in Perthshire.

Sort of sorry I don't drink coffee...

Hmmmm, thunder and lightning here, plus p*ssing rain and a lot of wind.

Go time for tomorrow! Still time to grab tickets online or at the door for the UK GHOST STORY FESTIVAL, starting tomorrow lunchtime at Derby's Museum of Making! www.ticketsource.co.uk/ukghoststory...

Archaeologist son looks to be stranded on a Hebridean island this weekend as the ferry has been cancelled due to bad weather. He's in the company van so he can't really just fly. Still, there are worse places to be stuck, eh?

On aime 😍
