Let’s be honest, sadly it is absolutely true. I know of multiple people that play & manipulate the system in our community.

Agree those 2 faces are not who I want to see on news on issue. Want to hear from real farmers like these examples …. Staff at London food bank City Harvest say they have been “overwhelmed” by large amounts of food donated by British farmers. READ MORE: ow.ly/P7qr50UaeX6

Speaking of Food Banks, it’s a shame this hasn’t been more widely covered from yesterday. Staff at London food bank @CityHarvest_LDN say they have been “overwhelmed” by large amounts of food donated by British farmers. READ MORE: ow.ly/P7qr50UaeX6

“Poppet”!? Please take the condescension elsewhere. I noted to provide some context to a genuine discussion. Agree tax/succession planning is ongoing for farmers as circumstances change often. I’ve had over 20 years of it after my father passed away early. I maintain policy flawed but just my view.

So you don’t care about fallout to generational farmers in that 4 years. How lovely of you. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I say this as coming from a farming family, so have some experience & knowledge of such issues. Plus, it is the most well off that can afford to pay expensive accounts/ tax advisor fees to still minimise tax. They also have less complications with 7 year gift rule than genuine farmers.

I don’t believe it will cause an abundance of major landowners selling land, flooding the market & lowering land values. In the meantime how many generational farmers will be caught in crossfire? If they just raised the threshold, then they could still target Dyson etc.

For investment for development as one example. To still get some tax advantage - although reduced. For tax advantages relating to shoots. All the downsides of these examples are that they would be less likely to use the land for food production.

Exactly. They don’t actually give a damn. Just hijacking the cause for publicity & to raise their profile. A bit like the Socialist Party & Jeremy Corbyn did with the protest against Trump when he visited UK in 2019 for a state visit. Doing nothing but hinder genuine concerns on issue.

Principal behind changes is sound, but implementation & thresholds need adjustment, otherwise you will just facilitate non farmers buying up land that is being sold by genuine farmers. Not only is land value & hope value included, but farm building, machinery & farm house values. Value soon adds up.
