@gergely.pragmaticengineer.com is there a way to only get emails about new free issues of the pragmatic engineer? I think it's great work, but currently not in a position to subscribe and unfortunate to get so many subscriber only mails.

For my thesis, the hardest page so far was the cover. Trying to learn about the requirements, the university branding, how to embed a LateX template... time well spent. Also, there is no pre-submission feedback, so I can enjoy the anxiety of not knowing if I did it correctly until the day itself ✨.

With registered reports, peer review is done for an experiment design, before data collection and analysis. I was theoretically aware this has an effect on publishing of null results, but interesting to see numbers: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... (via mas.to/deck/@lakens...) #academicchatter

Had a totally not weird date night yesterday, learning about quantum computing from Prof. Cirac, all the way from the Munich quantum valley 😅.

I love seeing websites like this, great design and fun to browse ✨.

Some more #buildinpublic work over the weekend on the game app and landing page, settled on the name "Rank me if you can" 😅. I hope it makes sense with the theme and the pun with catch me if you can makes it memorable ✨.

Played some more sessions of the game we're building for fun earlier this week, really fun to see it working and coming together :D. #buildinpublic

The energy I want in my life.

This is interesting — a recent study of mode share (the % share of transportation trips by car, transit, walking, biking etc) relative to city size and income levels in almost 800 cities in 61 countries. Interesting results. HT @davidzipper.bsky.social www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Positively surprised by Nextcloud's cookie notice, feels respectful and contains information why and how information is gathered. Weird that it stands out to me that much, but earned my consent for tracking my visit 😅.

Last week, in a show of true German culture, I unceremoniously got the diploma for my Master's degree in Data Science in the mail ✨. Exploring the data ecosystem and working with open data has been fun, but I've always felt a bit like an imposter without formal education. Now, a little bit less ;).

applying for jobs again

Had a good time yesterday driving through Paris with a fancy Restaurant bus (?). I was pretty skeptical, but it turned out it was a really nice setup and as always great views 🤩.

Slight differences in performance between Claude vs ChatGPT image generation for a airship floating into a solar punk inspired valley.

Scored 300 points in the first ever game of "Rank Right!" (which might be a working title 👀) after battling react-native, kubernetes and websocket ingresses. Hard battle, but we did it. ✨. #buildinpublic

I've been reading a nice article summarizing and adding to the writing on finding fulfillment from @asmartbear.com: longform.asmartbear.com/fulfillment/. Trying to work on being less externally driven and following more of a self-defined path... we'll find out how that goes 🧘.

It seems weirdly hard to find 2D #TTRPG tokens to create top down maps of taverns, houses, caverns... anything that have a license that allows commercial use. Is there some treasure trove out there I don't know about? I want to pay money once to have clearly licenses assets 😬. #dnd
