Dotty old lady, interested in ornithology, especially domestic galliformes.
And every other bird on the planet.
Oh, and a bit of a misanthrope. (But not grumpy!)

Thank you! The questions may seem silly, but it's how I learn. Such beautiful birds.
Thanks for sharing.

I really admire vultures. They perform a difficult task that most aren't suited for.

I'm relieved this is in Canada. Does anyone know if Audubon still has plans to cull the Barred owls in the Sptted owl's habitat in the northwest?

It's not difficult! You can take your 12 or 13 photos to an ofgice supply store, and have them make some. Or. You can by the "combs" and perforator yourself, plus the covers, snd make your own! It's fun, creative, and you csn sell them as fund raisers!

This is a great shot- looking over the shoulder! They're such delicate looking little people.

They are! Their eyelids are the same color, too! Don't you love their "whistling" wings?

Bring so far north, I'd imagine she would be! I'd love to see this fall's plumage, if you get to go back.

Beautiful bird, and photo! A calendar bird for sure!

Yay! Doesn't it make you feel a pride in yourself when they accept your offering of housing? It should. I feel great when the little people stuff on the bird feed I set out. Small joys, but very satisfying.

The light hits just right! Lovely heron.

They may be considered "common," but I adore these svelte little joys.

You can't leave til after the credits have rolled! There might be a surprise ending! (And another, and another, and ...!)

Much nicer! I believe she's a bit thin, going by her face and around her eye. I'm glad she's able to help her species and others by showing the public how "real" these birds are. Just trying to live, raise families, enjoy their lives.
Exposure to the uninformed goes a long way. 'Specially kids!

Undoubtedly. Poor kid, I wonder if they have any ornithological experts available to help with her dietary needs. Her plumage seemed a bit rough, but again, that could be due to diet.

They're very good, pencil allows you a lot of freedom. Lovely birds, too!

Most adults have pearl colored eyes. Maybe a poor diet could have delayed this one's maturation. Just guessing!

Thank you! I'm a worrier by experience, not by nature!

Are there birds?

May I suggest a change? Add a patch of color to the front end of your Dutch rabbit. If you want to, I mean!

Her eyes are still golden! I thought they'd be pearl by now.

Unless, of course, those
people laid eggs in others' nests or sang a haunting song.
I picture a Carolina Wren when I think of OCD.

How precious! Was the family close by?

So unnecessary, and actually cruel. The same thing is going on in the purebred poultry world- breeding for traits that have no useful function, are grotesque, and doom the bird to an unnatural life.

Poor thing! I wonder if it was sick or injured? I thought they preferred woodland habitat.
comment in response to

Thank you, I'm not familiar with the younger set. They're stunning from the start, aren't they? Judging by the dove feathers in the nest, the parents must be very good hunters.

I'd no idea their mouths were so red on the inside! Beautiful bird, too. Thanks for sharing!

Ha ha! It looked like they were being chased away!

Are they spawning carp?

I love the frogmouths-teeny little beaks, til they open!
How close did you get?!
