paid bills today and feeling a lil anxious about making rent at the end of the month. disability pays $1500/month in washington state. my doctor bills were $200 this month. medications $100. my share of rent is $1000. who needs food?

There’s a degree of financial privilege one has by virtue of being non disabled. The ability to work, to not have to spend hundreds of dollars on medical supplies… it all adds up. When you’re disabled the system forces you to remain below the poverty line, which just makes a person sicker.

took grandma to joann’s today for an outing (dementia). she started to wander away from the register so i asked her to please stop and wait. she deadass turns around, squints at me and says, “who do you think you are?”. i’m still not sure if she was being sassy or just fishing for information.

Disability is not a moral failing. It can’t be prevented with healthy living, prayer, or wellness culture. It’s a natural part of life. If you live long enough, you will more than likely experience disability. We should all be fighting for better social supports, inclusion and accommodation.
