Their stuff is just so rewarding to me. The fact that a bunch of Canadians (and Levon Helm) could make such great American music...I mean, wow. I could watch "The Last Waltz" 1,000 times and never get tired of it. I know it occasioned some friction among them, but what an artifact.

PS--and I am proud to say I have never shoplifted so much as a pack of gum. Road signs, pilfered. Political yard placards for a candidate named Garcia? Nicked. I’m not pure. I guess this is a distinction without a difference, but it’s what I hang my teenage hat on.

This is incredible! No, we were much more likely to gather in the shadow of the immense grain elevators, in front of which was a place that sold sheds. I’ve always loved this juxtaposition.
