Has anyone tried dumping a switch 2/edition/key card on a switch 1?

Nintendo love spending eight years on a game to ensure its as generic and inoffensive as humanly possible.

Hello everyone! It's been a while. :) We would like to thank Time Extension for their recent article highlighting the current financial state of the GPS. We would like to expand on it somewhat and respond to some of the comments left by readers. www.timeextension.com/features/we-...

I think its pretty clear that Nintendo is fully participating in enshittification now. They're shipping updates that can soft-brick your machine, at the very least forcing you to reset settings and redownload all your software.

We Might Be About To Lose A Powerful Force In The World Of Video Game Preservation.

GamePro issue 213 contains concept art for New Super Mario Bros! No concept art for this game has been found before. It includes some early world designs, which show World 6 used to have volcanos. And an early design for the Warp Cannon that seems to feature E. Gadd's logo on it.

Haven't read posts here for ages now. Probably won't do so (incl. catching up with old ones) until I make some kind of software to make it quicker, as it was taking up too much time.

Although this is most based on early versions of NSMB, so maybe I should wait and see if development materials from that ever leak, lol.

I think maybe I should learn how to write C++/ASM code mods for NSMB and try and do my NSMB project with that instead. Its basically a question if Godot's ease-of-use outweighs the fact that I'll have basically recreate much of NSMB from scratch, and I'm beginning to doubt that.

Someones making a 2.5D NSMBW mod. Looks pretty cool. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTvI...

Seems like an archive of iQue emails from the 2018 Nintendo hack has appeared online.

Haven't tried it out too much yet, but the Retrotink 5X seems very nice so far.

This has got to be the worst mario enemy redesign lol

Does know of any good GameCube or PS2 controller extension cables? I.e. ones that definitely don't damage the controller port or plug, or drop inputs.

In Paper Mario, Bob-ombs can be defused with water moves. Due to their low HP, the only way to pull this off is to attack one for 1 damage, then perform Tidal Wave with Sushie with exactly one correct input to prevent the move from killing it.

Stored in the factory seal since 2005. Unreadable, some drives do not even recognize a disc. Preservation is not just storing aside and hoping for the best!

Is anyone able to dump the sound effects from Super Mario Run? I've been looking through games that use sound data copied from NSMBW, but haven't been able to do SMR yet.

How do cross-platform game engines generally handle temporary storage? Do they just not use it at all and just use RAM? Because I'm not sure if console storage is suitable for being used often as temporary storage, although maybe that's only the case for ones with NAND (WiiU+NSW)

Has anyone combined hardware-based picture-in-picture and KVM, with GUI software that sends its window location and size to the hardware (so it can combine the two HDMI sources appropriately), to basically have VNC without any latency?

I obtained hundreds of disks from veteran game musician & programmer Dave Lowe, who worked on games through the 80s & 90s; from original music for Beneath a Steel Sky & Starglider (progenitor to @dylancuthbert.bsky.social and Giles Goddard's Star Fox), to port-jobs of titles like Street Fighter II.

Mario's head now moves with his body animations, and he's rotated towards the screen a bit, like in NSMBDS. If I keep this rotation, I think it'll have to be dynamic based on if the camera is an orthographic side view or not - as it doesn't look right with other camera modes.

my cheap £20 Component -> HDMI converter is kinda bad. colours look dark and muddy and i get lines running across the screen, mostly noticable on 480p which is what my Wii/Xbox do.. is there anything i can do to make it better (maybe filtering power or cables) or any Better adapters for £50 or less

Apparently the RP2040's (and I assume RP2350's) PIO can be somewhat competitive with FPGAs, for less demanding projects. That's pretty cool.

Tempted to get a microsd extension for my new 3ds so I don't have to take the backplate off all the time/wear out the microsd slot.

This Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance music, "Ike's Resolution", sounds quite similar to some stuff from TTYD or SPM. Yoshito Hirano is the composer for the first two, but he's only under special thanks for SPM. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2XF...
