It is entirely true though that this is looking at the problem "attribution" through the lens of what they know - online ad spend/traffic attribution. Every tool a hammer, etc

Maybe to get farther down the rathole on that - they want complex attribution with multiple dimensions (google ads style) and might have different partners/agencies sending those in. You can back that out of a singular code, but it's not as easy as dimensions.

People (execs? marketers?) want attribution and/or credit for those events, which they imagine means the ad system needs to be tied to the management system deeply, and not off a single value. It really doesn't.

People can't agree on what paying includes. Is it just no ads, is my data/behavior still used for L-A-L for ad models for non-converted accounts like mine? The price for just what I'm worth as a nothing is much higher than just not seeing ads.

Using a ton of white like that probably is significantly cheaper than repairing/rehabing all the wear on the edges of the trim. This looks "revitalized" and not just veneered. Also probably breaks down 100 times faster than a proper refurbish.
