Thank you! I keep debating whether I want to keep it or add some kind of pastel background to match my kitchen. I figure it can sit like that for now.

There is something VERY special about being from Wisconsin. So many of us are deeply proud of it. I know your Yiayia is somewhere feeling amazing about what happened yesterday! We are not for sale 💙

If this is interesting to you and you want me to talk about it more, please let me know! I'm trying to find my people, so this was me trying to summarize some of the things I'm thinking about lately. I have so much more to say and do. (6/6) #academicsky #gradstudent

Doing this work feels like a balancing act, but as someone with a background in media studies and human geography, and someone with some knowledge and education of other ways of knowing about health, I do believe that I am uniquely qualified to do it. (5/6) #humangeography #mediastudies #nutrition

It's also a really interesting time to do this work because we're seeing a rise in "trad wives" and this romanticizing of domestic roles. Home economists were often reduced to "cookie bakers," which is not indicative of the breadth and depth of work they took on. (4/6) #tradwife #housewife

In my future work, I plan on layering things more, talking about how we can learn from the good and reckon with the problematic. Home economics encourages systems thinking and interdisciplinary work that is often not a focus for people in fields like nutrition and food science (3/6) #homeeconomics

Home economics is such an interesting field. It's been deeply misunderstood for decades, but it also has a complicated history. With this poster, I wanted to introduce people who do "science science" (someone's exact words) to the original, mostly timeless definitions of the discipline (2/6)

It's kind of a standard answer but I really like the prompts in The Artist's Way, or really any of Julia Cameron's other books. She always gets my brain going!

I built the computer, I think that's what you're asking!

Yes! I'm looking through nutrition, food science, and home economics records and finding so many things we can learn from.

Totally! I use it to complain, work out a sticky point, whatever. Instead of being frustrated that I'm thinking about work, I write about the distraction and then kind of write it away, sometimes by focusing on it, like listening to a song to get it out of my head. But I'm a rebel lol

I was looking at BOOX, too, but seemed really pricy! Good to hear you like the Kobo. It's probably what I'll pick.

I tend to flow with whatever I'm feeling that day and I break the rules often. Sometimes I'll use it to write lists, sometimes do tasks, sometimes brainstorm for a draft I have to write. Since I'm writing a lot everyday for clients, it tends to be useful even if it's like, not directly useful

The person I talked to said she ended up destroying some really old ones because she ran out of room. Afaik, her hands still exist!

When I was a media writing TA for journalism students, more of them seemed interested in Buzzfeed, podcasts, and sports journalism (or being the "next Oprah") than investigative journalism. I think it was them responding to the job market and the algorithm but idk. I think about that a lot, too.

I would love to get more involved with fiction authors and would love to be a reader, something I think would help me flex that fiction side for myself more often. Are there good communities to join, things I should know? (2/2)

I know people who have been doing morning pages for 20 years straight! So you can go as many rounds as you want!

I'm on round 2 of pages, just about to start week 4 tomorrow. So that would be 16 weeks. You can make it!

It was "FEELS LIKE -27" this morning...like WHAT? Luckily, we decided to be remote for school today.
