Rep. Crockett knows how to to play the game and is rising to this occasion. Other Dems should take notes and follow her lead.

"Vought believes that executive agencies have, with Congress and the courts’ blessing, usurped so much power that the Constitution is no longer in effect." www.vox.com/on-the-right...

Notice how NOW Fox acknowledges that egg prices are about more than govt policies so they can exonerate the Trump Regime from responsibility.

This is fascism.

Is anyone compiling a comprehensive list of all the laws Trump, Musk, DOGE, et. al. are currently violating? Seeing the full scope of the illegality at play here may be helpful.

I wonder how smart it is for current staffers in these agencies to resign in protest. Won't that just allow DOGE or whoever to replace them with their cronies?

I like Tomasky's idea of weekly press conferences updating the people, in simple, straightforward terms, what havoc the Trump Regime is wreaking: newrepublic.com/article/1913...

JFC.

They’ve called armed federal officers to the scene. We aren’t dangerous. We are here to represent our people. To defend public education. This is an authoritarian regime. You cannot block members of Congress from entering the Department of Education.

“They apparently just sort of walked past security and said: ‘Get out of my way,’" Can other federal buildings simply not let these douchebags in? Blockade the doors, get physically in their way, get security involved, call the police, make them call the police, call the media to get attention.

ELON IS ALLOWED IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. NOT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES OR STUDENTS & PARENTS. I WILL BE BACK.

I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you! /s www.npr.org/2025/02/06/n...

This is interesting. Perhaps a more decentralized and local series of protest movements would be better suited to this moment than one larger, and more difficult to coordinate, resistance. Also, targeting not Trump directly, but those responsible for enforcing his orders, work to slow things down.

I know everything is chaotic, which makes it difficult to reflect, but I'd like to draw your attention to this from @jamellebouie.net. We're in a nation-defining constitutional crisis caused by the failure of the "liberal consensus," which has existed since the 1930s. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/o...

I sincerely don’t know why people aren’t physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons

"These things are illegal, these things are unconstitutional, and it matters to say that. It matters because that is the only grounds we have to oppose it on. That is how you rally opposition." newrepublic.com/article/1911...

Not a bad article summarizing the various laws Trump and Musk are violating: time.com/7212753/trum...

Can I ask a question? Who is preventing Dems from entering USAID and Treasury? I know Musk and his minions are behind this, but who is physically there stopping people from entering? Police? Hired security?

Every accusation is a confession.

Holy shit.

Scathing. newrepublic.com/article/1909...

Remember all the times Trump claimed the court cases and investigations of him were "witch hunts"? Every accusation is a confession. newrepublic.com/post/191053/...

If only there had been people saying that this was a bad idea. Oh... newrepublic.com/post/191051/...

Fantastic piece.

The people screaming for her to go on Rogan weren't going to vote for her anyway.

Matt Stafford is a good dude.

They won't. They'll continue to be stenographers for Trump and deny that their editorial decisions impact how people understand the world.

"Among the reasons for that diminished confidence, particularly among Republican respondents, is the belief that colleges push liberal agendas." And where exactly did those in the survey get this idea from? www.insidehighered.com/news/governa...

In general this is a good piece, and neatly sums up some of the operating "principles" of the Trump Regime. However, the line about the academy of "woke leftism" is a bit jarring. newrepublic.com/post/190987/...

Cowardly political reporters are actively covering up Trump’s racism.

Didn't take long at all for some asshat to take this step, did it? www.cnbc.com/2025/01/23/t...

The DOJ, the environment, human health, the separation of powers, now education. He's trying to reshape this nation into a perverted, distorted, unrecognizable shell of its former self through fiat. Luckily, not everything will work, but the fact that they're trying says a lot.

"The massive stack of EOs Trump signed provided the first indications of a serious problem: He and his cronies are confirming their status as chronically sloppy bumblers while doing their very best to destroy the very institutions GOP presidents have used to implement rightwing policies."

“Damaging the institutions they don’t like,” he said, “seems to be their whole theory of governance.”

Her 15 minutes of fame tour of right-wing media to talk about how "persecuted" she's been will begin in 3...2...1...

there is no "defensible use case" for chatgpt. do your own work and use your own brain or fuck off

Bleak future posited here, but it hasn't happened yet, and we're seeing that resistance to the Trump regime can work, so we must fight against this possible future.

Hmmmmm.

Saying that celebrating America's history is proper implies that anything not celebrating that history, anything even hinting that maybe America isn't great, is improper and will be judged as unacceptable.

I'd really like to see the numbers behind this lecturer's claim that more and more of her students want her to just lecture at them. I also don't like her framing of active learning as a "fad" since it's backed by research. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/view...

Real fuckin' rich for these assholes to complain about stealing IP.

My god these people are delusional. Spending three months in jail for attacking the Capitol is going through "...some hell." GTFO.

DOJ prosecutors aren't supposed to help implement Trump's agenda. They prosecute those who committed crimes, like the J6 thugs, independently of who is in the Oval Office. joycevance.substack.com/p/where-is-t...

Jesus Christ this is straight up Soviet bullshit.

Good thread, with links to some intriguing articles.

Fact-checking signals that not everything is up for grabs because powerful people say so, writes NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights deputy director Paul Barrett. "Meta has scorned and stifled that signal. Others should not follow suit."

Interesting article. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/view...

I guess those losing teams just didn't deserve to be in the playoffs. The committee will have to make better choices next year. /s
