Random musings as I'm working on my Mort essay. Death has adpated Ysabell as a baby. There is no passage of time in Death's kingdom, according to Mort. Yet, there is soemthing, because somehow, Ysabell is sixteen...πŸ€” #Discworld #TerryPratchett

Only recently I have discovered the saluting magpie superstition, an I really want to partake and salute a magpie, but I don't know if I can identify one.😳

I finally watched Anora last night. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure I like the ending. It was predictable, but I was hoping for something different.

I have now finished, If On A Winter's Night A Traveller, by Italo Calvino, and it turns out fragmented reading might actually work for this particular book, if not for most. πŸ’™πŸ“š

I have less than 50 pages left on my current book, and I'm dying to finish it, but I haven't yet gotten a moment to read it. It fractures my reading and is really frustrating. πŸ˜€πŸ’™πŸ“š

Why is IQ still a thing? Initially based in eugenics, do we really need new and exciting ways to classify people and make them feel incompetent?

Listening to No Such Thing As Fish new episode, I just learned that choirs sync heartbeats. The husbanoid and I have recently joined a choir of 78 people. That is incredible!

Good morning. Terry Pratchett on the Librarian. In order to navigate your way around Discworld without upsetting the Librarian, you can read any the differences between a monkey and an ape, as well as other interesting thing in my post about The Light Fantastic. πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸͺπŸ“š ko-fi.com/post/What-I-...

"That is humanity's great problem, for which reason so far has no answer." The final few minutes of the last episode of Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes (1994) are among the most moving in British TV. It almost feels as though Brett was breaking the fourth wall and contemplating his own mortality

I think the reason I don't like the Bajorans very much is that they remind me of the Jedi, and I really don't like Jedi. #StarTrek #DS9

I also love that you can see Oscar Romero's moustache underneath the Joker's makeup. #Batman

Adam West Batman and Robin climbing up a wall never fails to amuse me. #Batman

What annoys me about Clara's stupid reaction to Peter Capaldi is that according to her arc story, she's seen all the different faces of the Doctor so far. Even if she doesn't remember, her current version had a story with three different Doctors. Her reaction to Capaldi is obnoxious. #DoctorWho

The Matt Smith era of Doctor Who was not quite as good as I remembered. His time with the extended Pond family is better than his time with Clara, which, to my surprise, I found mostly forgettable. #DoctorWho

I'm in a coffee shop, but because there is an obnoxiously loud guy near me, I'm playing *the sound of an artificial coffee shop* through my earphones to drown him out. There should be a word for this. Preferably one of those long German ones.

I'm currently reading a book about reading, and it's great.* It reminds me that I should probably remind you about my post about Terry Pratchett's The Light Fantastic. πŸ’™πŸ“š #BookSky *the book I'm reading is Italo Calvino's If On A Winter's Night A Traveller. ko-fi.com/post/What-I-...

People prefer war over exploration, and a binary division of good and bad. It's depressing.

Watching Pride and Prejudice again for comfort.

I think Billie Piper is better as The Moment than she is as Rose on Doctor Who. It is the best she's been on the show, and she and Jon Hurt make a very good pairing. #DoctorWho

I love this!

Yesterday in conversation my mother corrected my firend for using the word fake instead of artificial. Today I read a post 'critiquing' Pratchett's use of 'Should of' instead of Should've, in certain characters' dialogue. I don't know why I get so angry by this kind of language policing. #writing πŸ’™πŸ“š

I really don't get the love for Elena Ferrante. My Brilliant Friend was a terrible book, and the translation was embarrassing, I thought. πŸ’™πŸ“š #booksky

New book club reading, Italo Calvino's If On A Winter's Night A Traveller. Enjoying the beginning already. #BookSky πŸ’™πŸ“š

Finished rereading Men at Arms today. I loved this second read it was very illuminating. πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸͺπŸ“š #Pratchett #Discworld #BookSky

Happy valentine. This is me celebrating my love of Terry Pratchett, reading and learning. πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸͺπŸ“š

Good morning. My second post in What I Learned From Reading Terry Pratchett series is now up. It's about The Light Fantastic, which I learned a lot more from than I first expected. I dare say, I liked writing this one. As always, like, share, and support if you can. πŸ’™πŸ“š ko-fi.com/post/What-I-...

I'm starting to think that the best use of AI is to make fun of AI and showcase how shit it is.

Husbanoid surprised me with Bill Bailey last night. No, he didn't bring Bill Bailly to the house, we went to see his show, which was beautiful and joyful.

Good news everyone! The Fiend (yep that's my phone's name) is back in action. Apart from a mild irritation, mainly about my own flaws as a human, and a slightly less sensitive letter o on the new touchscreen, there have been no casualties. Thank you for taking part in this journey.

The thing about smashing your phone for whatever reason, is that now I cannot sign into anything on my laptop, becasue everything requries me to verify it on my smashed phone! 😀

It astounds me, though it shouldn’t, that the lives of trans people have been used so effectively to radicalise people and press - according to The Times, Trump is a feminist hero now because he dehumanises trans people - real lowering of the bar of what is expected of a feminist

It’s always billionaires telling people to be mad at immigrants and diversity, so that we don’t notice that ALL of the inequality and financial struggles that everyone else faces is because of them.

Yesterday, a huge group of people came to watch Blue Velvet, as if it were some kind of a sing-along event. They burst into 'happy birthday' singing at the the of it. 1/2

I'm not sure how I feel about this Buffy reboot business. Like with all reboots, remakes, sequels, I wonder if it's necessary. I also can't help and wonder if this is some kind of an attempt to reclaim Buffy off Joss Whedon and make some kind of point. I'm not sure it's gonna work.

I love this.

Next week, I will publish the second in my What I Learned from reading Terry Pratchett, about The Light Fantastic. Meanwhile, you can read What I Learned From The Colour of Magic here: ko-fi.com/ayavandenbus... πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸͺπŸ’™
