I write about trade policy professionally (wish me luck). A North Dakotan expat in Minnesota, condemned to watch sports teams that are *almost* good

The WTO this morning reappointed Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as director-general, the first woman and first African to hold the role. Largely expected, but everyone was waiting to see if the US would be a wild card ahead of a new admin that does not support her www.wto.org/english/news...

Last night, I was minding my own business when my editor texts me a link to Trump threatening a 25 percent tariff on Mexico and Canada. Amid vivid flashbacks to all the times during the first admin when I covered policy-by-tweet announcements, I wrote it up: insidetrade.com/share/181732

A solid collection of trade types if you, like me, are into that sort of thing. I have made this starter pack into a feed, so if you're a trade person and not on here, say hi! (h/t to @samuelmarclowe.bsky.social for making the starter pack)

I enjoy Bluesky, but I am mostly a lurker. I do not have a poster's heart. Does one post their way into becoming a poster or are posters only born?

Hey @lookitup.baby can I be added to the twin cities feed?

I cannot overstate how weird and upsetting this winter has been in Minnesota. Just 7 inches of snow *this whole season* in Minneapolis. Park ice rinks, a mainstay of winter, were open for a week or so before melting. Highs in the 40s/50s every other day. It's just...not cold. In Minnesota.

I've only been on Bluesky a couple months, so I can only hope to be witness to such levels of shitpostery in the future

Twenty-five years ago today, Lucy Lawless hosted "Saturday Night Live." This one sketch she did burned itself into my brain. I wrote about it once. It's still, maybe stupidly, one of the things I am most proud of. Happy birthday, "Stevie Nicks' Fajita Roundup." www.theringer.com/music/2020/5...

Sometimes it’s a normal workday and sometimes the banh mi shop across the street has dancing dragons

Big reason I'm enjoying this website is there seem to be far fewer miserable people who are hellbent on inflicting their misery on you. Everyone is just Hanging Out

So... are we calling it blue sky or bluesky (like brewski)?

I finally made it here, but Idk what The Deal of blue sky is yet, so here's a photo of truly incredible public art in Rotterdam to enjoy while I figure it out
