One of the local clubs was a major red flag for me. They were so very angry and bitter about GW, or post 2nd ed D&D. Basically anything new they hated and grumbled about to the point where the club was just a bunch of miserable old bastards as they always drove away anyone younger than 40 who joined

Oh, I remember this last year. Iirc lot of folk ditched them then. Wargaming and Roleplaying has -always- had this problem of seeming like an Old Boys Club half the time. Miniature Wargames sadly caters for that mindset and the genres they tend to play so the overlap is there :(

I mean, I know a lot of it is in my head. Just fear really. But your body still shits itself around a shark, even if you know that shark isn't gonna harm you.

Seriously. The music throughout the whole meltdown sequence is devastating.

Oooh, Tainted Gold. It very much is the OLD, old Shining Gold recipe from around 5th ed WFB and 2nd/3rd ed 40k, before GW switched over first to the horrible screw top bolter pots and then onward....

As an American by birth, I'm kinda embarrassed by the cringe. Like, just one year of WW2 in secondary school history and you basically learn that the US came in, in effectively the last ten minutes of the war when most of the lifting was the UK and Russia and then just HOO-RAH'd their way out.

Ah, was more used to the original FW illustration for them.

Part of me leans toward Minotaurs but they're technically supposed to be all bronze save for Veterans etc. Possibly Celestial Lions?

But that's more due to actually liking the kits as they are. Admittedly I do plan on sculpting a beanie and an army cap onto some of the warbosses...but generally, even the older minis I rather like as is. But I do suspect units beyond my initial 1k will have conversions hitting them.

Yarp. So many folk don't realise GW was ALL over the do what you want approach years ago. I loathe the monopose kits because every replacement is a death to part of the bits pool (very bad for Chaos, Tyranids and Orks tbh). Hell, I'm not done too much chop shop yet on my Orks...

Perfect response. How to spot someone who's been in the hobby a good long while - we remember when GW said 'Yeah, paint them whatever'. Now you get an awful lot of angry kids screaming it doesn't match the box art or the mini isn't the exact one shown in the Codex/Battletome so must be a proxy!

Mate, let me put it in a more simple way for you.
A pile of shit covered in glitter is still a pile of shit.
Maybe people just don't want piles of shit, glitter or no glitter?

Bit o' urban, bit o' ash, bit of jungle. All right and proppa. (SG Team's usual green or black uniforms, plus the blue/urban uniforms worn by the NID.) They are very inspired!

Not the rend, more the sheer amount of damage and attacks. Seraphon have like bugger all rend. Kroxigor are there more for the raw damage tbh.

...Sigh. And now the R34 finds its anchor point because of your tired brain.

The most interesting thing is them putting Wave Serpents and Falcons into the same box now. Admittedly the difference was always one teeny tiny Falcon turret sprue but there you go.

That's ok. I've gone from cheap and cheerful mostly sneaky drybrush and metallic Tyranids to...Blood Axe Orks....and yes, I am doing random armour plates in different camo schemes and clothing in different uniform colours. (All kinda based off Stargate SG-1 uniforms though lol).

See. The problem is...I see this. And my Seraphon turn around and smile. You just brought the squishy things CLOSER to the Kroxigor. Very kind of you to do so.
