Pitfalls in NHS’s enthusiasm for neighbourhood health. Risks being too narrow & crowding out local government, voluntary & community sector & communities. All vital to solving inequalities! @holmepaul.bsky.social @healthierfutures.bsky.social @lukemunford.bsky.social @stevensenior.bsky.social

Monday morning giggles… when your teenager needs to make a cardboard replica of his home for school, be sure to choose the box wisely 😝

A reminder to everyone, the French spend 30% more than us on their NHS per person, and the Germans 50% more. The NHS is underfunded.

Great analysis here by @policyskeptic.bsky.social - “The NHS should be focussed on adding beds and managing the flow though beds more effectively by improving discharge processes. Nothing else will make a big dent in the queues in current A&Es”. To fix a problem you first have to diagnose it right.

Took my neurodivergent child to the opticians today. The iPad stayed in the car but he could nibble on their free sweets in the waiting room. Yet yesterday he could have the iPad but no sweets whilst waiting for his dentist appointment! Social cues, quirks and etiquette truly are baffling!!

I thought I was beyond surprise but this has had me reeling for days now. The system is broken. Why break it further before any attempts to fix it? Surely any government with an ounce of compassion would look to make improvements before steps that will worsen it further! This will harm many!!

I’ve just discovered the fabulous artwork of @grantdraws.bsky.social and I’m glad I did as there is rich wisdom and talent in his doodles!

Right To Choose is about to be constrained due to changes to “NHS Payment Scheme”. It’s in the NHS Constitution. The proposed change is wrong in principle +process. It should be debated in Parliament + open to Public input. Ask your MP to stand up for our rights! adhduk.co.uk/nhs-right-to... #ADHD

If parental burnout is a risk for neurotypical parents of non-disabled kids who are in school or childcare, how much higher is the risk for neurodivergent parents of high support needs disabled kids? Especially since support networks evaporate in that situation?

Raising an autistic child is complicated and at times difficult, or nearly impossible. Please understand the issue has little to do with autism, but other people; gatekeepers, medics, LA officers, teachers.. How you practically deal with them I discuss in my “Practical Guide on Autism”.

Tragically, after 60 years, preventable asthma deaths continue in childhood in the UK - one child dies every month from asthma in England alone. I perceive there are so many factors behind this like the housing crisis and the increased disconnection between services due to current pressures 😞

This is an important public health matter! Exercise and movement should be accessible for all yet so many barriers exist like cost and proximity. And if you’ve never had ability or inclination to be active much yourself, it can have a huge generational impact.
