The greatest trick the billionaires ever pulled was convincing us to fight each other instead of them

The University Health / UT Health San Antonio Forum on Advances in Pulmonary Care is today! Looking forward to a full day of learning about lungs from the very best! 🫁 #medsky #transplant

Thank you for sharing this. The organ donation system is cracking under inappropriate regulatory pressure, which leads people to make bad choices, and patients suffer. It can’t continue like this. We need a transparent, equitable, & just organ donation system. #Transplant #LungTransplant #DonateLife

A grassroots movement is calling on all Americans to abstain from shopping with major retailers tomorrow, February 28, as part of an “economic blackout.” I encourage you to join. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/boycott

The House voted to increase the deficit while gutting the very popular programs that cover children, retirees, and the disabled/elderly. This is clearly not about fiscal responsibility. It’s going to make us sicker & hurt the most vulnerable. Congress currently doesn’t represent the people.

This is incredibly sad and is a reminder of the seriousness of #measles. The WHO estimated 107,500 people died from measles in 2023. It remains a leading cause of death in children under the age of 5 globally. The measles vaccine prevents this from happening, apnews.com/article/meas...

Apropos of nothing, here are some thoughts on Medicaid & Medicare. People often seem confused about the 2 programs. Even the congresspeople who are trying to cut their funding frequently mix them up. Medicare is the fed’l fee-for-service insurance program for people over 65 & select others.

An infographic on Vaccine-preventable diseases. Might as well start familiarizing ourselves with these. Made me feel better to put this together

This change will accomplish one thing - kill medical research in US academic institutions. That's not hyperbole and the best way I can explain this to the lay public. Slashing indirect costs to 15% is a move to destroy the academic enterprise. Pass it on. www.statnews.com/2025/02/07/n...

Academic medicine study (N=674K; 1979-2019) finds Asian men, Asian women, Black women & white women more likely than white men to be appointed to entry-level positions, but white men more likely to be promoted to the upper ranks. www.kumc.edu/about/news/n...

The sequence of SARSCoV2 was made available on Jan 10 2020. Exactly 11 months later on Dec 11th 2020 the first EUA was issued for an mRNA COVID vaccine. These vaccines saved over 20 million lives. None of this would have been possible without NIH funding & dedicated scientists. #ScienceMatters

I was just carded while buying non-alcoholic beer … a week before my 42nd birthday. I’m going to count that as a win.

This is the most important chart published in America this week. (By @dylanlscott.bsky.social)

Listened to a great podcast this morning about the science of journaling. Part of the conversation was about narrative medicine and it made me think about how useful it could be for my #lungtransplant patients. I wonder how other clinicians incorporate narrative medicine in their practices? #medsky

I just found #dogsofbluesky! This place gets better and better. Our goofy pup is part kangaroo and says hello!
