"You can always edit a bad page. You can’t edit a blank page" - Jodi Picoult #WritingCommunity #5amWritersClub

I once heard somebody say that Lucky Charms are just proof of how much dry cat food children are willing to eat to get half a handful of marshmallows and I think about that a lot

Exam invigilation is usually a pretty boring affair but not when you get to watch playoff hockey on the Brampton Garden Square Jumbotron!

I have autism. I graduated high school with honors and had the highest SAT score in school history. I've been married to my wonderful wife for 28 years and have three amazing children. I've had a successful career as a software and DevOps engineer and paid plenty in taxes. Go fuck yourself RFK Jr.

I don’t know where to direct my rage these days but seriously, go fuck yourself RFK. this is wildly inaccurate and cruel BUT ALSO Generations of mothers were blamed for their children’s autism until we figured out it wasn’t caused by parental neglect. Why do we need to go backward??

A massive pickup truck turned the corner as I was walking my daughter home from school, and the truck’s back tires ended up jumping the curb and nearly running my daughter over. As I pulled her out of the way I noticed the truck’s “fuck Trudeau” sticker and thought how predictable it all was.

Trying to work on anything these days

‘which came first, the pun, or the research project?’ *academics, head hung low, whispering* ‘the… the pun’

This is super neat and as a bilingual Canadian I'm excited to check out this program! Finally, a bilingual show for a bilingual country Canada has two official languages, but you’d never know it by watching TV or listening to the radio. We did something about that www.tvo.org/article/fina...

nostalgia is remembering when you didn’t have to pay bills and attributing that feeling to mario

Haven't seen discussion of the fact that one way writing has gotten weird is that writers are constantly given feedback Every Substack includes analytics, Amazon sales tracked by the minute, every tweet has view numbers. It is hard to ignore & focus on what you want to say when you are told so much

Grief in the digital age is trying to balance “please do sometimes show me pictures of this person that I loved in happy times” with “please stop suggesting that I might want to travel to the hospice every time I open maps”

Yeesh, a bit on the nose, Shelley?

For me, the last stage of revision is always removing as many "indeed"s as possible.

Why would you make your narrator unreliable. I trusted you and purchased this book and this is how you repay me

Reminds me of JG Ballard’s unforgettable opening lines to his bleak High-Rise:
