I'm not a hardcore Star Wars fan as I began simply as someone who'd seen the films as a kid and moved on. The Dark Horse books are what made me more a fan. But I know this: if you look at stories and all you see are products without any merit, the problem is you.

The problem is looking at it as product instead of as stories meant to entertain. Sure, to executives it's all product. It's always been that way with literally everything. But the creatives behind these shows, films, comics, etc. all put their hearts and souls into these things.

100% agree. The only time G.I. Joe dipped into jingoism was when Chuck Dixon worked on the book and it was unpleasant to read. Sitterson brought it back to what it should be but sadly didn't get a long run on the property.
