all good. I saw the poll that puts it in margin of error territory on the 25th but haven't seen an updated one that puts him over the top
(here's the 25th for reference: stpetepolls.org/files/StPete...)

huge impact on the degradation of the web, but especially on social software. apart from forcing dumbed down interfaces, typing on a phone is way more effort than a keyboard, so text-based communication fell out of fashion

IRC never stopped being good! in fact it’s better than ever today. IRCv3 adds a lot of “modern” features, and there are tons of clients to choose from to get the experience you want

Meta's platforms especially have their thumbs on the scales when it comes to the content that is boosted and shown in feeds. I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but it is certainly an uphill battle. Zuck and his buddies aren't interested in posts about the good of regulatory laws being spread broadly

<3 i don't personally play Magic but i have a lot of friends who are big into it (making their own formats and such) and they assure me Scryfall is a good home for this content

there are few examples of the decay of the web more egregious and enraging than fandom. i hate them so fucking much.
obligatory plug for indie buddy wiki getindie.wiki. there are still independent wikis out there, but google has also decayed into uselessness so finding them is hard

@voiceofobrien.bsky.social the Critical Role fandom is very large and is full of kind and caring people. please use your platform to show people that their voices matter and that they should be calling their representatives and being loud about resistance 5calls.org

busy signal? keep calling until you can at least leave a message.
i don't want to hear "it doesn't matter" — we must use every tool we have to introduce friction and resistance. even a delay of a day can save lives.

network effects are the most important feature of any social software. it’s why Instagram can be utter shit and still we’re stuck with it

good way of putting it, i agree. Brennan having comedian/improv history has a lot to do with it.
generally i'm anti-mutliscreen but when i watch CR these days it's on in the bg while i do creative projects / art / etc. pay attention for interesting plot/world building and otherwise kinda just vibe.

i like them each for different reasons but i agree that Brennan puts on a much better show. i have a soft spot for Mercer's world building and mechanical nerdiness though

the third campaign has an abridged version that's much shorter. also if you want something more bite-sized, one of their offshoots is only six episodes and is some of their best content, it's called Calamity
