Altho there has always been cynicism re: da gubmint, it was made “truth” by Reagan who said “govt is the problem, not the solution “. I’ve said for years that the public and private sectors need each other. Those who worship the PrS and despise the PuS are now finding out the importance of the PuS.

Excellent thread. If I understand you correctly: the first felon and his gang will unilaterally cancel benefits for millions (claiming fraud) then ignore/appeal lower courts’ orders, and SCOTUS will approve the theft. Meanwhile, beneficiaries will be cutoff instantly without recourse. Frightening.

The important question is how far gqp reps in congress will go in privatizing SS & Medicare. GQP reps will lose badly in ‘26 if they cave. Red states are more dependent on those programs than blue states. If only a few gqp reps vote no, privatization will fail like in ‘04 when a few gqp reps bailed.
