Obvy hypocrisy is the norm w this crew but you can’t be pro-family and anti-Medicaid.

Last night, Trump promised he wouldn't touch Medicaid. This morning, Trump endorsed the House Republican plan to slash Medicaid. It's smoke and mirrors: Trump and Republicans are plotting to take away health care from millions of people to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.

In 3 days, the number of measles cases in a highly unvaccinated area of Texas has doubled. There are now 48 cases, all of whom are unvaccinated, and 13 of whom have been hospitalized so far, for a hospitalization rate of 27%. This is huge figure in epidemiology. This outbreak will keep spreading.

Established in 1951, the EIS fellowship program is for our nation’s best and brightest. Abruptly firing these dedicated fellows is unconscionable, ghoulish, dangerous. I’m furious. www.cdc.gov/eis/php/abou...

What a fucking sad day. I've had multiple students join this program, it's such a win-win of an amazing opportunity for training and gathering/monitoring and bringing back information.

Half of EIS, the CDC's renowned "disease detectives," gone. These folks respond to emergencies in the US and around the globe, and are now in tatters.

CDC source: “We just had word that all our fellows and post doc staff are laid off effective immediately. The famous Epidemic Intelligence Service, aka the Disease Detectives, is no more. That’s 1260 staff. They are calling this ‘Phase 1’.”

The US federal government is—today—firing thousands of scientists. The short-term impact will be terrible; the long-term impact will be devastating.
