the "handshake" service for advertising and hiring student hourly positions remains as nonfunctional as ever. just sayin'

Ok, time to prep (more!) for the week to come.

Instead I'll tell you what's cute: the dog grabbing a toy and running at a squirrel squeaking it like crazy. If squeaks could kill! Lol.

I kinda miss my anonymous bird site account. I liked having a place to complain about things, apparently!

Comic sans is alive and well.

Just spent 5 hours grading a short essay exam in Canvas. I apparently missed that even when the answer shows as graded in canvas the grade isn't saved unless you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click update.

16 just asked to watch episode IV w me. Thank you social media feeds for making this happen! (A rare statement indeed.)

How much chocolate is too much chocolate?

I actually miss digital measures.

I just found more coffee in my thermos. #smallvictories

Gorgeous day out in celebration of 20 yrs married.

Optimist: the cup is half full Pessimist: the cup is half empty Ecologist: it is complicated. And with a sample size of 1, why do you expect to get an answer??

It is so darned hard to find reviewers. Folks are busy! Minor issue given the state of the world, but it does matter to science with a small and capital S, and also to people's careers.

Doing taxes. Yep.

I was interviewed by @msjpauly.bsky.social for @motherjones.com regarding that awful gamete size "sex" executive order. A bit of an explainer here of why the science is so bad, and why that's dangerous:

It's officially winter in Colorado. And some of the chickens have started laying, poor girls!

This is super cool. Such a success story.

Paper accepted! Happy dance! I'm just a middle author, but the team is marvelous and I'm so happy for (and impressed by) the lead author Ashley Schulz. Science to follow once it's closer to actual publication.
