MAGA are mad at Zelenskyy for not wearing a suit for an official White House meeting. Meanwhile:

I think I'll be submitting a supporting submission to this apartment complex based on the responses to this FB post. Kmac is one of the worst councillors for enabling this type of anti housing rhetoric in the city

Major Security Breach Sees Two Russian Agents Gain Access To White House

Donald Trump is treating the destruction of a democracy as a political show — throwing Ukraine to the wolves and doing a favor for Putin. It's shameful and dangerous. I've been to Ukraine, as have many Senate Republicans. I hope they speak up. Millions of lives are at stake.

Hang on the minister for forestry brought land for forestry last year...

The Irish state was quick to declare a national biodiversity (/climate) emergency in 2019, but has done next to nothing meaningful since. Just one example of what the @opwireland.bsky.social, a state body, does on a regular basis.

It’s difficult to overemphasize what a dumb and shortsighted idea it is to start importing fracked gas, literally just to try and keep on trumps good side

Secretary of Defense Hegseth says he doesn’t know if Russia invaded Ukraine. This you?

Peering through the trees, the extension into Bishop Lucey Park is emerging. Built on public green space sold for just €1. #Cork

For the love of God, stop shopping on Amazon.

Watercolour figure on acrylic paper.

Funny how Minister Patrick O’Donovan doesn’t see the ‘scandalous outrage’ waste of €19.2million here! www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

Great read substack.com/inbox/post/1...

This lad previously thought rivers should be stuffed into concrete channels. This is not the sort of aesthetic sense you would want assessing the “value” of art.

Great piece by Terry Prone - why are our expectations so low when it comes to the furniture we scatter around our public realm? www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/colu...

Also see: Rise in flooding. Rise in mosquito causing malaria. Rise in adverse weather anomalies such as severe storms. Rise in blackouts caused by storms. Rise in costs. Rise in deaths. Rise in stupid privileged fuckers writing deranged articles like this that will make me lose my fuckin mind.

We've all worked for or with a Patrick O'Donovan in our lives and not one of us has one good thing to say about this type of person

"...Arts Minister Patrick O’Donovan wants to make sure that all projects funded by his department...represent value for money." How are they measuring value? Because they did this for Science Gallery, as though the arts were a business that should be cost-neutral, and it closed.

in between the violent storms and floods sure. love a fat glass of red as the ocean slowly makes its hungry dark way towards my family home

so new Holmes campaign has kicked off in style. At £90 now so here's a prose page to give people a flavour support it here www.kickstarter.com/projects/tri... @matthewdowsmith.bsky.social

"The absolute worst people on the planet: do we know enough about them?"

This is a real article jesus christ.

"Sure, fascists are throwing Naxi salutes during their Day 1 speeches at CPAC, but sometimes 19 year-old Gender Studies majors at Oberlin College are a bit preachy about LGBTQ+ rights on social media, so aren't both sides actually the same?"

"The track (Youghal, bailed out in 2023) recorded just two old age pensioners as paying attendees for the entirety of 2024". Think of the theatres and cinemas and gig venues that weren't saved. www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41...

Mark Zuckerberg spent a hundred billion dollars on VR and got nothing but ridicule in return, so you’d have to presume he’s included in the “lowest performers” here

Our standard of shop front really needs to rise. Not fair on those shops who put effort into their premises.

This gross industry literally only exists for gambling

Flash Gordon as Gaeilge is back in The Echo or available in ePaper form here: echo.ie/read-online/ Beidh clár nua againn gach Deardaoin! New episodes every Thursday! Original strip by Dan Schkade, translated by me, and lettered by Rob Jones. #Speirgorm

Ok now she’s finished.

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

I’m just going to throw this into the #plasticstraw debate. Up until the end of the eighties, straws really were not a thing, apart from a novelty at children’s parties. We drank from glasses. Maybe we should just recognise them as single use trash we don’t need. (except for medical conditions)

I'm embarrassed to share this, but this is where I lived for years because I couldn't afford anything better in a housing crisis. It's a literal deathtrap. If a fire happened between me and the door I had no alternate escape route. I didn't complain because I couldn't risk losing it.

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

Fox News host John Roberts: "If you're gonna trust anybody with rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse, wouldn't you want it to be a guy who really doesn't need your money?" (Rich people, famous for not wanting more money ... )

Ireland has less than 5 years to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 51% And today, the government announced that new data centres can open, powered by burning fossil fuels.🤷‍♂️ We are going to face BILLIONS in fines to the EU while we tinker with our slurry spreaders. #ClimateCrisis #Ireland

democrats won’t admit it, but my family’s economic outlook has gotten a LOT better since Trump took office. but what do i know? i don’t have a fancy economics degree, i’m just a regular guy who runs an airplane scrapyard

Guys, the crosswords just ain’t worth it anymore.

Whenever anyone laments the state we’re in, they’re met with a chorus of “but what do we do?” As plenty of good options are available, this response might often be wilful impotence*. I invite you all to nominate in this thread the best proposals and practices, around which we should gather. Thanks

America was given a choice between a lawless, amoral monster and a qualified, intelligent, joyful woman of color—and it chose the monster. We need to reckon with the reality of what that says about so many of us here. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/america-ch...
