playing around with containertoolbx.org and i quite like it, at least for small projects without much dependencies certainly replaces containers.dev for my personal projects, but i'm not sure if it can address all of devcontainer use cases at the moment (especially thinking about add'l services)

the precedence of container runtime operating as root on host machine has caused integrations built on top of it to assume the process on host machine is always root. podman tries to do the right thing by doing building rootless containers, only to end up with users getting thousands of cuts.
