Massive encroachment by Bezos into The Washington Post’s opinion section - makes clear dissenting views will not be published I still have not felt encroachment on my journalism on the news side, but if Bezos tries interfering with the news side I will be quitting immediately and letting you know

A new McCarthy era is upon us. Stupid, depressing, and dangerous as ever. I wonder whose name will carry the dunce cap in the history books. Too many are complicit. I’ll need to find upset and action, but for now I’m feeling grief at the dehumanization inherent to all this.

A Southwest Airlines plane was forced to abort its landing this morning after a private jet taxied in front of it across the runway at Midway Airport in Chicago. Whatever that guy from The Real World is doing with the FAA has gotta stop.

I miss DEI

Um ... "small army" of private citizens, "processing camps" ... this is sounding familiar.

There are only two options here: 1) Hold the line against the illegal & catastrophic way Trump–Musk are destroying the government, including if that means shutting it down. 2) Endorsing, ratifying, and acquiescing to it as a valid and permanent state of affairs. There is no in-between.

Democrats simply cannot give up their demand to rein in Musk/Trump’s unconstitutional impoundment of cong appropriated funds. This is a red line Schumer/Jeffries can’t let their caucus cross. Republicans run the Govt. This is on them to keep Gov funded. If they want D’s vote must rein in Musk.

🚨🚨ALERT🚨🚨: If you want Democrats to hold the line on Musk's illegal funding/firing spree, **RIGHT NOW** is time to make your voice heard. This update below is about just that. Not clear how hard a line they're taking. GOPS are abt to shutdown the govt. Their leadership wants Dem help outmaneuver...

Will you poor sad losers please stop reflexively going with "He has a point, but..."?

GOP messaging also never does this. When the right freaked about the IRS not approving Tea Party groups for nonprofit status, no Republican was out there saying "of course, we agree that the IRS has a role in rooting out scams" - it was just guns-a-blazin' opposition.

It is truly amazing how no one seems to give a shit in media about how young women around the world are becoming ever more left wing.

If you live in a Blue State, the most important thing you can do individually for America is get on your city council and focus entirely on building more housing. Many people in Red States will find their lives untenable very soon and need somewhere to flee to.

I get that Horseshoe Effect has forced many progressives to apologize for ever promoting Gabbard, Taibbi, Joy Gray, etc. But every pundit who ever lauded Eric Adams as the future of a New Serious Moderate Democratic Party should have to say a million mea culpas, too.

This might be an old person opinion, but it is shocking how spoiled everyone is. Oh, a shot that is cheap to produce, has minimal side effects, and reduces your chance of disease by a full third isn’t good enough? What do you want here and how do you look to achieve it?

"What leverage do we have against Elon Musk?'' ask Democratic politicians taking money from Elon Musk's lobbyists.

Mere shrugs from Democrats that they’re in the minority won’t wash. www.commondreams.org/opinion/demo...

Jeffries is wrong for this moment and unfit to lead. @markpocan.bsky.social will you pledge to vote against him for House Speaker?

Democratic Leaders Stand Real Still In Hopes No One Notices Them

This is really smart by @sanders.senate.gov Go to republican districts and push voters to pressure their republican reps. www.commondreams.org/news/bernie-...

Elon Musk is stealing your tax dollars and putting them in his own pocket

Elon Musk's 'Department of Government Efficiency' just tried to bully federal workers into proving their worth. Even Trump appointees are resisting. Meanwhile, Democratic leaders like Rep. Gerry Connolly are saying … just comply?

Pressed on why he won't criticize Eric Adams, Hakeem Jeffries replies, "It would be premature for me to say anything about the charges that may or may not go away until then."

Great news everyone, we have reason on our side!

To me, a Nazi salute means, "I want to murder your family." There can be no irony about it: It puts deep anger and hatred in my heart to see it done and I will never forgive anyone who justifies or minimizes it.

These are brown shirts, and this is Nazi behavior. We are not in a fight between right and left anymore. This is a fight between Americans and those who would bend the knee to a king. If you care about the soul of this country, we have to stand for each other.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

FFS New York Times. They’re not *his generals. Unbelievable

73 percent of Democrats think the party is not doing enough to take on Trump. 5 percent think it's doing too much, per new CNN poll. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

holy crap .... Another Town Hall(s) Goes Off the Rails – Oregon 2nd District Edition talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/anoth...

More of this energy. Show up at town halls. Bring friends. Be disrespectful.

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

"Boos and shouts erupted around the room. When Grothman praised orders ending birthright citizenship and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, the crowd only got louder." www.wpr.org/news/glenn-g...

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

People want fighters. They will adjust their ideology to match whomever that fighter is. It literally just happened twice with Trump!

Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

The thing about competitive authoritarian regimes is that they still have "free and fair elections." But everything leading up to election day is rigged.

this popped up in my memories but also I think about it a lot without it being pushed to me

More of this. The fuck are you doing promoting a book when the country is falling apart?

We’re live in a world where Dem leadership is being (rightly) called weenies by a retired punter ❤️

If you’re wondering why I declined to talk to the NYTimes, then you haven’t been following my account for very long. They bear a direct responsibility for the current situation we find ourselves in, and I responded by laying out my position and that I would only talk to @jamellebouie.net

Happening now: protesters are outside the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago this evening. People are in line to see House of Reps Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for an event tonight promoting his recently released book. Crowd chanting at them, "we don't need a book tour!"

Someone with a spine needs to primary this guy.

I should just give up, but… Democrats should imagine what Republicans would have said and done if Merrick Garland had gone to, like, Netroots Nation, called Don Jr a crackhead, and mused about fabricating criminal charges against Joe Biden's enemies, and then say and do that.
