Yeah, it made sense to stage things over there, since the entire urbanized area essentially ended at Hampstead Hill, even 30+ years after the park was donated. You had nothing but space.

(Patterson Park itself was a military hospital during the slavers' rebellion. The coercive fort on the east side was Fort Marshall, located roughly where Sacred Heart of Jesus church is now)

Fed Hill yeah, but the ones in Patterson are pointed at the British technically

yea when the story of Butler turning the cannons on the city gets told, people should understand the people being threatened were a cadre of powerful but numerically outnumbered oligarchs. All those German 48ers working in the factories weren't whistling Dixie

I once did a half marathon that started in a complete downpour. Once you get throughly soaked, it’s great running in the rain.

Can you show me where the campus is?

Note on methodology: state reports are available up to 2022, and then I had to go to individual jurisdictions' PD pages. In the case of Harford and Queen Anne's counties, no total was listed for 2024 so I had to reconstruct totals from press releases (4 & 2, respectively).

We have a lot of pointlessly placed rail stations, but this one always strikes me (as I drive by, because why would you ride there).

The Sun guy's listed him under the date of death, retroactively increasing their counter to 202 for 2024. I guess that was an error. homicides.news.baltimoresun.com/victim/5189/

I don't tabulate it myself but the two pages tracking it I'm aware of both had it at 9 🤷‍♂️: chamspage.blogspot.com/2025/01/2025... homicides.news.baltimoresun.com

for sure, it’s more that specific typology in highlandtown (afaik doesn’t exist) that made me smile. The 600sf Mount Vernon apartment I’m in now passes the smell check except that it says “Mount Vernon, MD.” Still, we must make allowances for the Swedes

Would you say adopting this kind of extreme solipsism has made you a *more* effective communicator on here? It seems so isolating. Shouting to millions, but all of them robots (and also, somehow, Russians).

no, it’s a crisis that requires a serious response, but it is not yet a new years of lead

there’s a type of political moment when you’re right, but I very much hope you and I don’t live to see one, and rhetorically probably shouldn’t be so gleeful to get there.

this is basically a restatement of what Trump is saying but (presumably?) turned against him. Is that where we want to be?

It’s true the city can’t keep active transportation people for long (probably because their work is so often stymied), but that really shouldn’t cause something like this. If continuity for millions of dollars of funding slips by with just one person quitting, your processes are broken.

It’s super annoying but the GA’s still in session and could restore the funds so it ain’t over til it’s over 💪

I can’t tell if this is a bit or if you’ve actually convinced yourself half of the people you’re talking to online are algorithms. It seems exhausting.

heartbreaking to learn that even Houston has three rail lines (though all light rail)
