Here's the numbers from the latest baseline survey simulation: (median depths after 10 years, assuming Gaussian errors) usdf-maf.slac.stanford.edu/allMetricRes...

I was amazed when I put in my heat pump. Winter power bill dropped a huge amount, and summer power bill was pretty much the same even though I was cooling the house.

that's not to say it's not worth profiling but it needs to be "these people are fucked up and let me tell you about their fucked up wedding"

Yes. That’s why Hilary and Biden were never able to win nominations over anti-war candidates like Bernie.

The 90s were wild like that. Just a lot of low res gifs and good music

Who's done the math? Is that a 6 foot wall? So he's making the catch while the ball is still 9 feet up? I want to see all the other catches that high or higher.

Drives me crazy when people get all nostalgic for Goonies but say Tron sucks.

Some outlets want to maximize their audience, so they gotta sane-wash to keep the middle. Same way Fallon is not funny, but by being non-polarizing he can keep a broad audience.

News is best understood as part of the broader entertainment industry. They get money by selling ads. More readers = more ad revenue. So they print what sells, entertaining stories. Not the most accurate, not the most informative, the most entertaining. Copaganda is entertaining.

Did they think if they made it bland enough the pride merch would just stay in the closet?

This was a wild way to find out Biden has cancer too

I had to click through to see which corruption this was in reference to. I assumed it was accepting a plane as a gift corruption, but turns out it’s the cryptocurrency corruption scheme.

As near as I can tell, Education departments are some of the last to adopt the scientific method. They just routinely confuse correlation and causation and refuse to set up proper experiments.

Take a breath. There's a 99% probability you just breathed in some molecules that were part of Lincoln's last breath. Also a 99% probability your lungs slurped up an atom from Hitler's last orgasm breath.

Yeah, most of us can't get cops to show up to a crime in progress, yet somehow podunk penn cops decided to swarm a McD's on a loitering complaint? Really seems like they had some extra info.

Ok, but I am impressed the scammers could get the timing down. To get the app alert you must only need to hit the right spot on a phone tree

It’s not even the same cuisine. Wok’s are from China and Benihana is Japanese. Might as well be talking about those famous Atlanta cheesesteak sandwiches.

I would say make a github PR on this file: github.com/matplotlib/m...

Matplotlib was so preoccupied with whether they could plot histograms with different binning etc.

My favorite is when folks have their flash on, and I have to be all "No! you're massively lowering your signal to noise ratio!"

I think it's only by being broadly sweeping about all pets that you're controversial. It's pretty well established that outdoor cats are very bad for the environment. But, if someone decides to keep a pair of dogs rather than have a human child--that's way less enviro impact.

I think Starlink is stupid, but this is only an issue around twilight. They are in low earth orbit, so by the middle of the night all the satellites are passing through Earth's shadow and invisible.
