Suggestions for places to eat and visit would be most welcome, obviously going to spend at least a day between Flamborough and Bempton, Whitby and the Brigg will be visited, but any interesting wildlife or heritage sites that might be missed by the occasional visitor are of interest.

Already booked, 23rd May, Reighton Gap overlooking the sea. Looking forward to some proper fossil hunting with Lucy, crinoids near Clitheroe are fine but for kids you can't beat Mesozoic material. She's got very good nature eyes, once she knows what to look for I think she'll be away.

Got older, now entitled and reactionary. Get most of my wildlife information from the Daily Mail. Wish we still had proper politicians like Rhodes Boyson.

See, I knew we should have booked for Dorset instead.

Splendid, naturally I'll be expecting gannets, assorted alcids and migratory passerines thrown in, also common lizards and slow-worms, nightjar and seals.

Excellent read, Robin Bradley's book will be next on my list.

These have been my best lure in estuaries, but the 9cm is a bit hard to find now. todbermanor.co.uk/korum-snappe...

Try these with suitable jigheads, 5g should be fine in that sort of habitat todbermanor.co.uk/korum-snappe...

Hope today has felt a bit better. Don't like to think good people are not getting the pleasure they deserve. Similarly, I don't like to think bad people are not getting the awful life they deserve.

Hybridised with a mandrake?

@belowwater.bsky.social memories of salmon, sticklebacks and shiners.

Maybe a mix with good balsamic vinegar.

Insulated backpack with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella, just browse like a bipedal okapi.

Needs a tankmate, one of the fancy ones with the bulbous head development.

That's rather lovely.

How exactly does one enquire about the health of said goldfish without bringing into question personal hygiene?

Yes, cod "flaps", the belly trim with the paired fins. So much meat on them.

The bowl is c. 20cm dia.

Had them in Catalonia with fried eggs, really good. Usually sold here for dogs.

Safe way to open a conversation I guess for someone with mild anxiety.

A hedgehog tongue never fails to brighten the day. I don't mean from a culinary perspective of course.

Eucinostomus I'd guess, gula or argenteus most likely given the location, anal soft ray count seems off for all of them though.

Got to be a Gerreidae with that silly little mouth. The common name, mojarra, is also applied to various cichlids.

May be infected with a fungus?

This needs an article, not a few sentences. Do they have lots of neuromasts on the rostrum? Would make sense I guess.

Credit has to go to @renfield87.bsky.social for the presence on the trolly, I was merely an observer.

Which amphibian species do you have there?

Looks like it got frozen and killed overnight.

That fly has something nasty stuck to it.

Many congratulations, I have one of mine sat on my knee and singing right now.

I still have fish on display that were acquired in 1988. There's a large Platydoras that was donated as a very large adult in '95, so I'd have said 5yrs old at the time, at a minimum.

Red Moss is well worth a look, even more so in a couple of weeks. Go check the dam wall on Rumworth, look over the farm for the first swallows.

Where did you go?

Isaac himself at a past catfish event.

I can get fish balls easily here (fnarr fnarr) but they mostly seem to use milkfish as a base.

I mean, trout are about as dumb as freshwater fish go but still...

I will, I'll do it tomorrow from work, I have an induction for a new staff member but I'll find an excuse to sit down for 20 minutes. I sent it in a message before seeing your most recent reply.

You're welcome, your writing has almost an British style (whatever that is) to me, and the WTT are an admirable organisation.
