Looks like RFK, Jr is harming measles patients' health. www.cnn.com/2025/03/26/h...

The "Trump effect" has Liberals ready to sweep Canada's Federal election. The Trump effect is at work here in the U.S., too, most recently in the Pennsylvania state senate election. A Democrat won in a district that Trump was by 15 points last November. People really don't like Trump at all.

#MarkKelly, is a hero, an astronaut, and my Senator, as true a patriot as America has ever had. Elon Musk--well, he knows how to hire engineers who know how to build rockets; Musk himself is a Nazi and a drug fiend; been practicing Nazi salutes and acting very Nazi. www.cnn.com/2025/03/27/p...

Interesting anecdotes: Some anti-Liberal and pro-Conservative Canadians also view Trump negatively. Suggests the great depth and breadth of Canadian animosity toward Trump. Other articles: a fringe of people support unity of Alberta and Saskatchewan with the U.S.... Ughhh. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Trump says US auto makers will be thrilled about new tariffs. You can see from US auto makers stock declines compared to foreign ones just how thrilled the U.S. is. From CNN:

TRUMP'S TARIFF TAXES People will shun more expensive cars. Inventory will rise, prices will partly readjust down. Auto makers & dealers will eat part of tariffs; consumers will pay the rest. Tariffs on food imports will hike food prices. Counter-tariffs & economic panic and malaise will set in.

This is what I had hoped would have happened soon after October 7, 2023. Anyway, finally, Palestinians are standing up against Hamas. (To do so does not signify support for Israel.)

Trying to subscribe to The Atlantic. This is what I get. Could be an ordinary problem with their server. Maybe too many people are suddenly trying to subscribe. And maybe somebody is interfering with their subscriptions page.

Don't mess with him. Plant eater, but she or he could decapitate you in one slash--if you were around back then. www.cnn.com/2025/03/25/s...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Arizona yesterday. I'm taking a month "vacation" from Facebook and from high news consumption. Could some of your who are on Facebook listen to this speech (27 minutes) and post the speech on Facebook? She clearly has leadership qualities. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bED...

Tesla Cybertrucks undergo Rapid Unplanned Disassembly. More positively, aerodynamic research and testing costs are 0. High school-level engineering means that flat stainless steep panels of arbitrary sizes can be cut, stapled, and glued cheaply. Most hold together. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/20/b...

I am happy to see friends Robert Grimm and Maria Banks quoted in the article and involved in the Blue Ghost lunar lander. It was an amazing mission, and the imagery was incredible. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/21/s...

Elemental signatures can be detected in some distant galaxies. Such a young galaxy must have had many massive stars that burned hot and bright and generated oxygen, then blew up. Heavy elements means that rocky planets would have existed (though they'd be undetectable). www.cnn.com/2025/03/20/s...

This is the voice of resistance. edition.cnn.com/2025/02/21/p...

It's just fiction., Just entertainment. Just a good read. Except for the many parts that have moved from fiction to reality. malcolmnance.substack.com/p/its-offici...

For those of us worried about events on Earth, things could be worse. We could be near Sagittarius A*. I wonder where the Goldilocks Zones of habitable planets ends as one gets nearer to Sagittarius A*. Serious stuff happens in that violent Galactic neighborhood. iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3...

And now, with the Sabbath coming up tomorrow or Sunday, depending on your religion, here is something straight up totally Biblical, the story of a modern-day Jonah! Haha, okay, he spent a couple seconds in the whale's mouth, or whatever, but no quibble with details. edition.cnn.com/2025/02/13/w...

Very good breakdown of what is happening, including a table that keeps updating.

What had been planned as a broad PSI release ended up being from our Director, Mark Sykes. There was a process that led to a decision to make it just from him. Anyway, I approve of the message, and so does what appears to be an overwhelming majority of PSI employees. www.psi.edu/blog/stateme...

Ditty's (DT's) interference reaches a level of malfeasance. He should be sued in civil court. www.cnn.com/2025/02/03/c...

@bermandc.bsky.social I love your profile description "Planetary Scientist. Husband and father. Progressive. Sci-fi lover. Board gamer. I speak for the trees."

🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

I went to Costco to stock up on four maples syrups, as a show of support, and to get 1-year supply. They were sold out. Duuuuhh, of course they would be sold out given the crap-storm that blew in from the south, and the 1-month reprieve on tariffs.
