I like cities where drivers don’t kill people, taking pictures of dogs, and fiddling around with bikes. Go follow VZV: https://bsky.app/profile/visionzerovancouver.ca

This is what the human shaped robot people sound like.

WINNIPEG – A relative of a victim of a Winnipeg serial killer says she’s still in shock after potential human remains were discovered at a landfill north of the city.

See all the street furniture, the extended patios? You can't have any of this placemaking if you make the street car free only 1 day a week for 8 hours. No business is going to install and dismantle these things on repeat. This was a Thursday btw

It’s almost like when you ignore what “Vision Zero” is supposed to be (redirection of responsibility to system designers, and construction of “optimal roads” rather than an empty declaration/target), it doesn’t work. The 1999 paper should be mandatory staff reading: www.monash.edu/muarc/archiv...

While no city is perfect, good bike infrastructure is the primary reason I moved to #Victoria. Given that I almost lost my life riding on #Vancouver streets, wanted to make sure I did everything I could to be safer. #activetransportation #bikelanes momentummag.com/ontarios-bik...

ABC is running Ralph Kaisers in this by-election. Here's what I've got to say about that:

Good talk.

Wild to me that just four years ago RFK Jr was banned from Instagram for spreading anti-vaccine misinformation and now he's in charge of the nation's biggest health agency

🚑 Spotted at West Pender & Richards in downtown Vancouver: an ambulance using the separated bike lane to get around traffic! A huge but underrated benefit of protected lanes—they’re not just for bikes, they help emergency responders get there faster. Safe streets make the whole city work better!

If tiny cities in Canada can do it, major cities have no excuse. Especially arterial / commercial roads with rapid transit

Today I look at the powerful right-wing influencers who are calling for a violent invasion of Canada, a sentiment now being repeated by random social media commenters. 🧵 #cdnpoli thetyee.ca/News/2025/02...

Vancouver tried to add a bike lane on King Ed in Dunbar: 👉Preserves street parking 👉Replaces no car lanes 👉Protected design Mayor Ken Sim's weak leadership resulted in staff caving to misinformation from local opponents. Now we're getting another painted bike lane next to arterial traffic.

Finally, acknowledgement these kinds of modifications are wildly dangerous

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

Beyond crushing. Nature released a study a little while ago proving these policies increase suicide attempts among trans kids — and lawmakers pursue them anyways. Cruel beyond comprehension. I am so sorry this is happening.

In BC this year, the public is subsidizing private schools to the tune of a staggering $570 million dollars, while public school boards struggle to balance their budgets. Let’s redirect that money back to public schools. #bced #bcpoli www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc...

Hey Vancouver voters. This is good news. I’ve worked with and observed city councillors up close in too many cities to list (including Vancouver, obviously) for 33 years. Lucy would be a very good city councillor.

Honestly fuck America for making me engage in any hint of nationalism because ew

congratulations to abc for not having any negative scores last year

when i’m writing a letter to my councillor about the new sharrows in my neighbourhood:

If you want an affordable city, where everyone is safe and where everyone belongs, Ken Sim isn’t working for you. We need leaders who are ready to stand up and fight back. That’s why I’m running with @onecityvan.bsky.social for City Council. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGcI...

California has a new "daylighting" law, AB 413, that is aimed at improving vehicle visibility of pedestrians standing near crosswalks and intersections.

Dogs damaging school fields? Obviously that means there aren’t enough dog parks nearby. But Ken Sim’s ABC voted against new dog parks. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Had an awesome time chatting with Jon Stewart & @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social talking about how to fight the dumpster fire. Gear up. It’s time to brawl.

New York is demonstrating a fundamental fact that every city with a grid needs to learn: You don't need cars on the diagonal streets.

Good news Canadians, we’re only about double those countries! 😬

My dog was sleeping on my sweater, so when I put it on to take him for a walk it was already warm 🥰

Under @davidebybc.bsky.social 's @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social, ICBC has not compensated this person for lost wages. Absurd.
