Gemma so far has been the character I've been the most curious about since she's a driving force behind marks decision to sever and the decision to reintegrate and we barely know anything about her
which is on purpose I bet to make it more tragic when her story is revealed

and alice continues to be right, which proves she is the best.
the whole set up of alchemy and balance and these two universes, its getting to be very interesting
also gwen getting what she wants but realizing its not actually all that is real

it has to be stated that while I detest Helena I also think she's super well written, i think most of the characters are, they're well acted as well.
a character I'm desperate to see more of is Gemma as well
even though I personally think the Gemma that outie mark knows is gone

and helly is actually loved, despite everything she is cared for which Helena never got and even though they are the same technically it must make Helena feel crazy to see "herself"get something that she never got willingly
she hijacks helly and takes from her
because conquest is all Helena knows

also the Spotify comments for episode 27 are funny because it's not the first time magpod has discussed or mentioned sex at all, and yet people are saying the "podcast became freaky"
meanwhile the "freakiness" is entirely off screen and mentioned in one scene

i don’t know if i’ll listen as it drops for s2, i’d probably save up a few eps to binge at a time since i like doing that with podcasts

something being art doesn't make it good or bad on its own. I feel like when people call something art it's automatically associated with something highbrow or something that is of high value

people also not being able to identify what is endorsement or a depiction or even a critique is what annoys me a lot too
or when people say that its existance as fictional means that it has no weight on reality, like someone being art means it's open to both positive and negative critique

additionally i’m not implying that het stories are more progressive(lol) if anything i think people should read a lot more lesbian/sapphic stories
or maybe just listen to women more i guess

also i’m not saying people can’t be BL fans or that fujoshis are misogynistic or something, what i am saying is that people should expand their reading to be inclusive of women’s experiences
especially in a climate where fascistic beliefs are on the rise

like i hate it when people’s reasoning for being BL fans is because female characters are poorly written because man…there are works that prioritize them and center them you just have to find them, it happens that those don’t get popular because misogyny is still not super challenged

i can’t fully blame people for shifting to reading BL instead when they want romance because the lack of gender roles is definitely refreshing
it’s more that i think the actual answer to poorly written female characters is to just write them better
also to check out GL more

another example is when a female character is written as strong/competent,becomes weak because they need someway to prop up the male main character and a lot of writers are allergic to thinking that you can have both characters shine without diminishing either one
this is also a gender roles thing

anytime a female character that is not written on purpose to be annoying is perceived as such by the audience an angel loses its wings
and also i tend to be defensive about even annoying female characters because people can be so sexist about them
