To design a color scale, I use dimensions: luminance, chroma, and hue. Color-spaces map these dimensions to (hex-valued) colors. Luminance drives a color scale, distinguishes a color from its background. Equal steps in luminance is not constant across color-spaces: observablehq.com/@ijlyttle/lu...
