Political royal marriages aren’t a new trope. In fiction (especially fantasy or romantasy) or history. When the marriage is about the politics and not the person- meeting first isn’t always a priority. Duty is. But if it ain’t your cup of tea, that’s cool. But I know an audience exists (me for 1)

*culture. There’s always one typo. 😂😂

Hey Jan! Since it’s fictional the author determines the cultural. I think the premise of royal forced marriage where you don’t know your spouse till the day off pretty darn interesting. Especially when there’s mystery of murder involved. I’m invested- and the wording is one of the reasons why.

Not only is it offensive. It’s also just boring.

Oh it def fucks. But also the tóxico of this romance be right up their alley. I mean I’m currently wishing Lestat a very much Buffy encounter but even I can’t deny the sexy.

Okay. My ADHD got lost with all this purple monologuing. The drumming drum with and other drum that drummed. Girl what are you saying?? On that note end of episode 1. Goin save ep 2 for tomorrow. Gorier and gayer than I expected. Surprised I took this long.

Oh come on. Main Priest ain’t do nothing wrong. OH that was unnecessary way to kill someone. Stop being extra my dude. How are the dark romance booktok girlies not eating this up? Is it cuz it’s gay? Cuz this the kinda seduction they love.

He knocked her out with an orgasm so they could get it on. Now THAT is a bisexual power move. Wait they can orgasm FLY!? Wha-??
comment in response to post
Wait. I don’t know what was hotter- Lestat losing it or Louis forcing him back in line. The TENSION between these two. Could cut it with a cane knife.

“It was a cold winter that year, and Lestat was my coal fire.” Excuse me? Ima need to know if this art is original or curtesy of Miss Rice herself. Am I goin have to read those books? Unrelated? I am afraid to get attached to the du Lac family. This goin end bad…

Not Lestat hitting him with “Friends” in the first meeting. No one is out and I still felt that blow. Also flirting with a man while making moves on his favorite prostitute? Bisexual power move.

Wait I love that Miss Williams. Please tell me she stays for a while. Pimps anal sex, racism, priest fist fights, and cane knives. Very much did not know what I should have expecting.

@ndxmedina.bsky.social go time! Deadass thought it was a commercial. Actually stopped and had to remember I’m watching on Netflix. Also, it has a nudity warning? AMC clearly edgier than I gave them credit for.

I LOVE nightlife and that whole series. But the unresolved of it all saddens me. There is a queer character! The rest I’ll be adding to my TBR! Thanks!
comment in response to post
Gonna pop that to the top of my TBR. Thanks!

Definitely recommend KD Edwards. I’m two books in and while there is romance, the friendship between the MC and his bodyguard is more centralized. Likewise the Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman does eventually have romance it’s more sibling focused (series will never be finished tho warning)

Wake the Bones by Elizabeth Kilcoyne I think fits the bill. Slow start though. Untested vibes from my shelf Saint Juniper’s Folly by Alex Crespo Not queer but fits the vibe: White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson
