one of the reasons why i didn't buy into the hype of signal's security is bc its "encryption" is only of data in transit, not at rest on each phone involved. i do believe in layered security, but to think signal is the safest thing ever when even a teen hobbyist can rip info off phones is wild

remember when project 2025, created by trump's closest advisors and team members, had literally been published, available on the internet, and discussed and dissected literally by our representatives in DC... and we had a whole group of ppl insisting it was completely made up? truly, peak idiocy

This isn’t the world it’s the United States and it’s auto genocide. #3E

some days i'm an infosec & cyber intelligence pro solving mysteries, fighting hackers, and educating others... and other days, i don't have brain cells. i just have these guys

super cool: just learned one of the execs i answer to has pretty much the same sociopolitical opinions. we ranted after work about the blatant corruption and weakening national security & infrastructure. everyone i've met so far in this field has been great w/ their analysis and facts, but still!!

sometimes i don't think i'm smart/good enough to be regarded so positively at work. i won a new cybersec role. i'm gonna be a keynote speaker in a cybersec conference soon. ppl are spending thousands on me?? now i have to train myself even harder before ppl realize they invested in the wrong person.

being a teacher is one of the most important jobs in society, but we don't incentivize anyone to pursue or stay in those roles. instead, we rip apart federal academic resources and give teachers barely livable wages

so many reasons why trump and elon kept showing up in our cyber threat feeds even before the election

battling hackers in real time to defend thousands of ppl isn't like what you see in movies, but shit my heart was racing all day 😳

@aoc.bsky.social: "Tax cuts cost money. We have to pay for them. So every dollar that you spend in federal taxes is going to pay for some rich person's G-Wagon. And it's also going to cut an 8-year-old kid with autism's ability to access Medicaid. That's what they are putting on the table."

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F. 18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it. We made this website to tell our story: 18f.org

I don’t even know how this could be presented as being in service of anything other than hindering scientific progress.

archive.org is a lifeline for me

As DOGE Attacks Social Security, New Report Shows Elon Is One of the Government's Biggest Beneficiaries gizmodo.com/as-doge-atta...

CISA has always been one of my resources for fighting off russian hackers. this is so fucked trump+musk fired hundreds of cyber & infrastructure defenders. a good number of 'em analyze election-related data and investigate issues. they also address both internal & foreign attacks on these processes

ukraine received support in money and weapons, but it's not charity. it's historically and structurally in everyone's benefit that ukraine defends itself and keeps their spot in the world. we've already lost so much soft power in the world thanks to doge. are we losing our allies too?

trump+musk fired several hundred #cybersecurity and infrastructure security experts. we're losing critical resources that support the analysis, intelligence, and security of our national data and processes. truly insane

Trump, Vance and their GOP stooges think we can withdraw from our allies, hit them with tariffs and still thrive as they add trillions in debt for a tax gift to the rich, place a super regressive tax on everyone else and destroy our vital gov't services. Isolation, inflation, recession.

This was even too shameless of a lie for this account. MAGA influencers are trying to scam their own voters.

In a meeting with 2,000 other fellow cybersecurity pros working in critical infrastructure. So many are wondering what can be done about the DOGE cyber attacks and breach of our country's systems thanks to Trump+Musk's malignant inefficiency and incompetency

REVEALED: we identified the operator of an overtly racist X account, "GlomarResponder," as ICE Assistant Chief Counsel James Rodden, based on an overwhelming number of biographical details matched through publicly available documents, other social media activity, and courtroom observation.

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

i know it's not the serious phase yet, but being top 100 out of thousands of other ethical hackers this winter felt pretty nice

and just like when he did it to twitter, elon got a bunch of ppl from the government fired not realizing what exactly they do and how important they are for our nation to function.

You wouldn't dismantle the agency that protects consumers for corporate abuse and scams unless you wanted your rich buddies to be able to abuse and scam consumers.

the trump administration firing the cyber safety review board who were investigating the large scale of ISP hacks around the nation during the election year is pretty strange 👺 #cybersecurity

A US data security crisis looms as Elon Musk's team allegedly took control of government source codes, with unmonitored access. If resolved, systems need restoring, models must be purged, and security updated. The impact is severe, possibly an international crisis.

so interesting to see how often typosquatting happens via social media handles. like brian said, stay vigilant ♡

one of several dozen disasters in only three days of this administration, each event impacting us all for generations. i've had to use NIH and their vast collection of peer-reviewed studies and publications SO MANY TIMES to fact check misinformation when i worked in sociopolitics.

at work - spend hours hunting down malicious cyber activity + actors. manage vulnerabilities/address incidents. document everything. at home - spend hours (ethically) hacking a website to then hack the server and admin's machine. expose vulnerabilities. document and present everything.

saw someone say we're in our temu government era 💀

of course now everyone is gonna have amnesia about how trump literally is the one who pursued this in the beginning and even wrote an executive order to try to ban tiktok in 2020, and biden got rid of the order shortly after

why is he pretending to know anything about ip addresses? man has never been near a command line before 💀

ppl heard "amber turd" and their media literacy and critical thinking skills suddenly dissolved

the initial plan today was to work on studying to gain more tech certifications. but so far i've only: -walked my dogs -built a list of parts to create my own wardriving drone from scratch -played my guitar -played state of decay 2

as a cybersec professional, i constantly feel like i could or should be fired for not being the absolute best and most knowledgeable IT wizard sometimes steam's winter sales of games is currently doing wonders as a coping mechanism

Real report I did about a guy who didn't change his default router password: SWAT team busted down his door to arrest him, calling him a pedo. Guy swears it isn't him. After a legal process + deeper forensics, they found it was the neighbor stealing the guy's wifi for these sick internet activities

beyond working on more tech certs during my break, i've been rotting/ catching up on manga. ahiru no sora is way better than kuroko and WAY closer to that wholesome feeling haikyuu gives off! watching these boys try their very best and improving is the magic here! (nerd who also enjoys sports here)

reminding myself that it's okay to have a couple weeks off of work (they literally gave it to everyone!!!) and i don't need to be hypervigilant about every cybersecurity detail

work colleague: whoa wtf you got like five monitors on rn -- the productivity is insane me: *looks up at him and then at my workstation, confused* me: no, it's just my adhd
