tips i wish i knew after thyroid removal/radiation:
โข take meds 30mins before food or 2hrs after - with no other meds โข always check TSH, T3 & T4 w/ blood tests โข if lvls won't even out after trying various doses for months, try a total dose per week (eg. 100 Mon-Sat & 0 on Sun)

to be fair, this is our real map. we just aren't taught much about Indigenous Australia/Australians in school (unfortunately)

Even I have a tough time w/ other countries. Like, Bali is in Indonesia & they have provinces & regencies. And then in China, they have provinces, municipalities & regions
Australia is easy haha we have 6 states & 2 territories, with a capital city in each

some ppl say Australia is just a big island, which is also kinda true haha idk i just live here

and im sorry you've had to struggle through so much
my meds aren't really working right. we try 75mg, its too low. we try 100mg, its too high. tried 75mg on weekdays & 150mg on weekends, too high. flipped that - its too low!
didn't know u cld have Hashi's if ur hypo. maybe i shld check that?

just adding: i had the choice for surgery. as a teen, docs kept going on abt a big, visible scar. they scared me into choosing irradiation. i didn't know abt complications & i still don't know how my body was affected by the procedure (still looking for knowledgeable Endo)
comment in response to

the meds to reduce the hyper weren't working for me. u can't be on carbimazole for too many years bc it affects ur bone density. since i was dx'd as a teen, i was still growing. irradiation was the only option
altho, even in hypo my thyroid hormones won't level. idk why
comment in response to
post
same for Graves' Disease. my thyroid wouldn't settle the f*ck down, so docs irradiated it. my body cannot make thyroid hormones anymore

is this Australia? i don't think ppl know the difference between free healthcare & free *emergency* healthcare. ppl are being funnelled into private insurance bc the public system is essentially non-functional at this point
except thats having a knock-on effect for private care/waitlists

hard relate. its a struggle to even get a dx for some issues. idk if i have POTS, IIH, or CCI. without knowing the root causes, there's no way to manage or treat anything
docs don't seem to understand that w/o a proper dx, u cld be treating a problem u don't have, that won't relieve any symptoms
comment in response to

that is in the realm of possibility. esp if we tax the untaxed - the mega corps & billionaires - and max out gov budgets for Healthcare, Housing, Education etc.
ppl can feel safe, supported & connected, to live better - enriched lives
without all these fears, rotting them from within [13/13]

cus all those (likely ND) crunchy moms, crying abt vaxx's or toxins making their kids ND, or severely intellectually disabled - what do they really want?
if we operate within the limitations of Science & the realities of existence: they want help - for them, their kids & their family [12/13]

instead of trying to find causes of things we can't control/change/fix/cure - for ethical reasons or otherwise - why not invest funding into helping ppl to live fuller, better, happier lives - no matter their disability, illness or disease? [11/13]

if Eugenics is off the table, and we can't control risk factors: whats left?
imho its really simple: we need extensive, affordable/free healthcare, familial & societal support systems, effective accommodations - and a push towards empathy, kindness, equity & understanding [10/13]

gene testing & monitoring is already a thing. it is a useful tool, if used safely & ethically, with consent
risk factors are a trickier subject. potential & possibilities are hard parameters to work within [9/13]
comment in response to
post
we can't remove every risk from our lives. we can't alter the genes of existing humans. so whats let? whats the next logical step?
hint: its not termintion or sterilisation of "at risk" individuals [8/13]
comment in response to
post
and if we can't remove the potential of risk, that leads us down the slippery slope of eliminating known risks - genetic risks
that's Eugenics, ppl
the only way to save unborn children from potential risk or known risk - is termination [7/13]
comment in response to
post
its just hard to get ppl like her to understand the realities & limitations of Science. testing risk factors is almost impossible, without creating clones existing in sterile, heavily controlled environments
which itself wld generate its own risk factors re: socialisation, identity etc [6/13]

she's just lucky I don't feel slighted or threatened by her, so there's no need for me to demolish/deconstruct her entire belief system (for funsies)
she's mostly harmless. I'm not worried for her kids. they seem very well-adjusted & I think they'll make informed choices as adults [5/13]

if im not talking with any sort of conviction/passion & I let u talk over me - its bc I've already decided u aren't capable of having this discussion
i legit don't interact w/ ppl that share similar views to her [4/13]
comment in response to

she really did try to sound educated & confident in her opinion. but i don't think she understood how flip-floppy & weak her beliefs were. kinda like, even *she* didn't believe them anymore. not entirely
she absolutely misread me tho, as most ppl do when they try to "debate" me [3/13]
comment in response to

idk much abt the new vaxx protocols for kids. she isn't antivax per see, more so that she wants extended, single dosing & more investigation into risks/injury
which - fair. but when she started talking to me abt RFK, i checked out so fast
mind you - we're both Aussie, living in Australia [2/13]

update for posterity: the new ver covers a lot more strains than the earlier versions. loads of ppl seem to be having similar reactions, just bc of the strength or mix of it
to be fair, i react badly to all jabs. this was just worse than usual. idc, I'm still cvd-free (somehow)

nobody says grey-outs but idk how else to describe it. I've *had* black-outs & lost consciousness. grey-outs are not that

some countries see hEDS as just HSD. others as the hypermobile form of EDS. or they say its the same thing
sadly, no genetic markers yet. only diagnostic criteria. which presents challenges for dx, as some criteria cld be seen as "subjective" Rhuems can be VERY dismissive
comment in response to
post
there are also 41 connective tissue disorders. EDS has 13 types. most of them are very obvious in their presentation, esp if you get certain scans done (like ECG for vascular EDS) 12 also have genetic markers
science is leaning towards hEDS being the most common type, tho very under/mis-diagnosed
comment in response to

adding onto this: if ppl are not sure about the "blacking-out" part, I sometimes explain pre-syncope as "grey-outs"
my vision goes pixellated all around the perimeter. tightly connected tiny light grey squares start moving inwards. anything not greyed-out is blurry. it can lead to full black-out
