Trump is tightening his grip.

On my better days I hold out hope I’ll get an apology from The New York Times and The Athletic, but I’m not holding my breath.

For this week's episode of The Mess, @imarajones.bsky.social takes a look at all of the red flags from the past few weeks. Trump’s administration has continued to attack trans folks by trying to erase them from all federal websites, even ones documenting our own history.

I can’t re-up this enough. “… The New York Times' leadership was aware of, and pushed for, an anti-trans bias in reporting - uncritically platforming anti-trans medical misinformation and anti-trans bigots despite outrage from the public and the paper's own staff” via @imarajones.bsky.social

The fact that Candace Owens’ bogus anti-trans videos are getting over a million views would laughable if it wasn’t so tragic. Inflaming transphobia is dangerous. Thanks for bursting my bubble @timmiller.bsky.social.

Today for BHM, we honor Ms. Frances Thompson. in 1866, she became the first out Black trans woman—and the first Black woman—to testify before Congress, speaking out about her assault during the Memphis Massacre.

I remember when Fox News absolutely melted when a certain Secretary took a family member on a presidential delegation. Let's see how this one plays out.

After seeing the consequences of their years of biased coverage about trans people @nytimes.com is trying to erase their role in bringing us to this perilous moment. That’s why I wrote this Letter to the Editor to keep accountability squarely where it belongs and to call for an unvarnished apology .

Trans people should never be erased. #riseup and #resist and never forget #Lgbtqia+

A Transwoman started the riot. This administration would rather Stonewall never happened at all I guess.

Since the National Park Service is trying to erase the singular role that trans people played in starting Stonewall, here’s a piece I wrote about the devastating, four-decade-long consequences of erasing trans women in the 1970s from the queer rights movement. www.thenation.com/article/arch...

On today’s new episode of TransLash Podcast, we’re celebrating queer and trans love in all its beauty. 💕 @imarajones.bsky.social sits down with Arthur Rockwell and Harry Weissman to talk about their relationship, and how they support each other. 🎧 Listen now on Apple Podcasts and Spotify!

I'm grateful for @imarajones.bsky.social and @translash.org . Enjoying this episode on trans gay love: shows.acast.com/translash/ep...

Valentine’s Day smacks different when you see your freedoms curtailed one by one.

Safety extends beyond the physical - our online footprint can be just as important. As more online platforms revise their online hate policy, LGBT people are now more open to abuse. If you have considered removing yourself from an online platform, check this guide from @them.us: bit.ly/4hUnD8J

The racialization of trans identities impacts solidarity. To kick off our Families mini-series, @imarajones.bsky.social asks @lizettetrujillo.bsky.social What does it feel like to stand in solidarity with families who can walk away when yours can’t? 🎧 Listen now on Apple Podcasts or Spotify!

MSM gonna do what it does 🤷🏾‍♀️

Can attest to NYT's anti-trans attacks influencing the thinking and social media posting of a college classmate of mine.

Well this is revisionist history...

Way too little, way too late.

And even in this editorial there is a lot of “we should have debates about the rights of these people”

It will take YEARS of changed behavior for the NYT to regain my trust in trans topics But for the sake of my people I hope they do!! (I doubt they will but would love to be wrong!)

Gaslighting. Just pure and unadulterated gaslighting. I mean, I gave up on the NYT a long time ago but this is shocking.

NYT: we want to wash our hands from all the transphobia we let loose, by putting in your mind the idea of fucking trampling over a trans flag

For a decade trans people and allies have warned that TERFs, Gender Criticals and their Right wing allies have been fertilizing the ground for fascism. And even now papers like The Guardian continue to provide them columns and Governments like Keir Starmer gives them Ministerial positions.

New York Times regarding the anti-trans mass psychosis:

Shame on NYT Bias journalism, an embarrassant of the press.

Today the @nytimes.com sought to whitewash its central role in laundering anti-trans falsehoods and turbocharging anti-trans attacks nationwide. My reporting showed that editorial leadership was aware of this depravity which is why this disingenuous piece can’t erase the scale of what they’ve done.

Putting the US on the side of apartheid is nasty work.

“The passport is one of the 3 major forms of ID… the fact that the government has decided to take away one of those from trans people puts trans people in a bind from accessing public services to getting an apartment to possibly getting a job.” - @imarajones.bsky.social translash.org/podcasts/the...
