I’d argue that running a full visibility campaign designed to get people to play games together, in the middle of the most anti-LGBTQIA+ political era of recent years, is fine actually. This is not a profit motive. Of course they want you to buy cards, but that’s always true. These help communities.

Context: I worked at Wizards for ten years.

I haven’t worked for the WPN team for about three years now, and I’m not well researched in this area so I’m not the one to argue this with, but I doubt the WPN team had anything to do with the VML decision. I do think they’ve worked very hard to bring this new program to life though.

I’m not celebrating their decision making, but I’m also not rejecting the benefit that programs like this one can offer. So no, I wouldn’t rather they do nothing at all.

People decrying there’s “no white spaces” clearly haven’t been to the church across the street from me

As former Wizards WPN staff, this is accurate. There are many different teams spinning up all kinds of projects independent of each other, and I'm glad they're able to bring this one to game stores. We can still be sad at the loss of one program, but I don't think that should lessen other impacts.

Horrible to see all of this happening around us, and still having to log on

And by publishing I guess I just meant promoting.

Ugh that’s the one thing I didn’t want to bother with

As someone who used to work at Wizards, the absolute saddest thing for me was always watching pre-teen children talking about how much cards were worth.
